Marketing for landscapers and gardeners

Landscaper and Gardener Marketing Guide UK 2026

Winter is when the diary is empty and the website should get built. The engines fill spring diaries with the firms they could read about in January.

30%
of 64 tradespeople found by ordinary search could not be verified at Companies House (Whito, July 2026)
50 of 60
AI Mode answers for a trusted tradesperson cited Checkatrade (Whito, August 2026)
45.5%
of 200 independent UK small business websites publish any price at all (Whito, August 2026)
35%
of 55 top-rated trades firms have no website at all for AI to read (Whito, June 2026)

Finding

Of 64 UK tradespeople found by ordinary search across eight cities and checked against Companies House, 45, or 70%, were a verifiable active company and 19, or 30%, could not be verified, including two trading under a dissolved company, in Whito’s July 2026 study.

Start, Build, Scale

The right order for landscapers and gardeners

Do the stages in order. Nothing in Build works while Start is missing.

Start, Build, Scale for landscapers and gardeners: the free foundations first, then systems and proof, then measurement. The three stages are listed in full in this figure.

Start

  • Company number in text
  • APL or BALI named if held
  • Google Business Profile complete

Build

  • A portfolio on your own site, towns named
  • A price-from per job type
  • Winter content, for spring decisions

Scale

  • Track cost per job won
  • Photos and reviews from every spring job
  • Repeat maintenance rounds

What we know, and what we have not measured yet

Whito has not yet run a landscaping-specific engine study. The figures above come from Whito’s trades research and hold here: a third of the trades people find cannot be verified as companies, review platforms sit behind most AI answers, most sites publish no price, and a third of top-rated firms have no site at all.

What we have published for landscapers is a cost guide for a landscaper website, built around the winter build window, and a scored comparison of the five biggest UK landscaping and garden brands. Both are below.

When the landscaping study runs, it will appear on this page first, dated.

How much does a landscaper website cost in the UK?

Three things that cost you visibility

A portfolio that lives on Instagram only

Engines do not read your grid. Ten finished jobs on your own site, with the town named, is what gets matched to the question.

No price-from anywhere

Patios, fencing, turfing and maintenance rounds all have a sensible starting price. Publish it and you are already ahead of most of the trade.

Seasonal silence

A site that is not touched from October to March looks abandoned to a machine in February, which is when the spring enquiries are being decided.

Where to start

In order. Structure before scale.

Start: be findable and real

Company number, address and phone in text. Scheme memberships in words. One page per service you actually do.

Build: give machines something to read

LocalBusiness schema, a real portfolio with towns named, price-from figures, before and after photos you own.

Scale: build the evidence layer

Review requests after every completed job, a monthly check of what the engines say about landscapers in your area, and the winter used to build the pages spring will need.

The register that matters

Companies House, plus APL or BALI if you are a member

No statutory register. The company number is the check, in the footer, in text.
