Corrections, right of reply and removals

We publish scores, research and listings about real businesses. Sometimes we will get something wrong. This page is how you tell us, and what we do about it.

If we have a fact wrong

Email hello@whito.co.uk with the page address and what is wrong. Include the source if you have one.

What happens next:

  • We check the claim against the original source.
  • If we are wrong, we correct the page within five working days.
  • The correction is noted on the page with the date. We do not quietly edit and move on.
  • If we are not wrong, we tell you why, and we publish your response if you want us to.

Right of reply

If your business is named on Whito and you want to respond to what we have written, send us a reasonable statement and we will publish it alongside the original. You do not need a solicitor to ask, and you will not be charged.

How the leaderboard scores work

The scores are our editorial assessment. They are opinion, not certification, and they are relative to the other brands in each comparison.

  • Every brand is reviewed and scored by hand across seven marketing channels, using information anyone can see.
  • Where we quote a financial figure, a set of results or regulator action, it comes from filed accounts, a published announcement or the regulator’s own notice, and we link the source.
  • Position is never for sale. Paying Whito for anything does not move a score, and never has.
  • Scores are dated. Businesses change, and an old score is a snapshot, not a verdict.

If you think a score rests on something factually wrong, tell us. That is a correction, and we will make it.

Getting your business off the directory

Email hello@whito.co.uk from any address connected to the business, or use the link on your listing. We remove it. There is no argument, no charge and no retention offer.

If you would rather it stayed but with different details, tell us what to change and we will change it.

Some listings were built from public information without the business asking. Those come off on request just the same.

Personal data

Where a listing includes a person’s name or contact details, that is personal data and you have rights over it. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, which means you can object under Article 21 of the UK GDPR and we have to stop unless we can show compelling grounds not to. In practice, for a free listing, we will simply take it down.

Whito Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, reference ZA297473. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy. If you are not happy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
