WHITO RESEARCH · PUBLISHED PRICES ONLY
Check any marketing quote against published UK prices
Most owners find out what marketing costs after they have signed. This calculator prices your mix from 128 published UK prices and the Whito cost index, so you see the range before anyone sees your budget.
The mistake: letting the quote set the range
Most UK providers do not publish prices. When the only number in the room is the seller’s, the range is whatever they say it is.
There is a fix. Some providers print their prices on their own websites. We collect them, with a source and a collection date on every figure. Those printed prices form a band. We call it the priced-in-print range, and it is where your quote should sit.
Below the band is not automatically a bargain. Above it is not automatically a rip-off. But either one needs an explanation, and now you can ask for it.
What should it cost you?
1. Where is the business?
2. What are you buying?
3. Got a quote already? Enter the monthly total, excluding VAT. Optional.

Prices exclude VAT. Most UK agencies and freelancers are VAT registered, so add 20%. Guidance, not a quote: your job can sit outside a range for good reasons, but someone should be able to say what they are.
Where the numbers come from
Two Whito datasets. First, 128 published prices from 47 UK providers, collected from their own price pages in June 2026. Second, the UK Marketing Cost Index, data checked July 2026. Every figure has a named source and a collection date. Nothing here is a survey answer or a guess.
The priced-in-print range
The priced-in-print range is the band between the lowest and highest prices UK providers actually publish for a service. This calculator judges any quote by where it lands in that band. Inside it, you are negotiating. Outside it, you are owed an explanation. The term has its own entry in the Whito glossary.

Questions owners actually ask
How much does SEO cost in the UK?
Published UK prices run £300 to £5,000 a month. The median entry package is £447 a month, and the median across all published SEO prices is £799. Prices exclude VAT.
How much does a small business website cost in the UK?
Entry fixed-price packages have a median of £520 one-off. A full build plus its first year typically runs £2,000 to £17,000, with £5,500 typical.
How much should I pay for social media management?
Published UK prices run £250 to £3,000 a month. The median published package is £358. What moves the price is platforms covered, posting volume and whether ads are included.
What percentage of revenue should a UK small business spend on marketing?
The widely quoted 5 to 10% rule comes from US data gathered mostly from very large companies. No UK survey of small business marketing spend as a share of revenue exists. Pricing your channel mix from published UK prices is more reliable than a borrowed percentage.
What is the priced-in-print range?
The band between the lowest and highest prices UK providers actually publish for a service. Whito’s calculator judges any quote by where it lands in that band. A quote outside it needs an explanation.
Do these prices include VAT?
No. Most UK agencies and freelancers are VAT registered, so add 20% to everything above unless the provider says otherwise.
Know the priced-in-print range before anyone knows your budget.
