Free AI Visibility Check for UK Businesses

Can search engines and AI assistants read your website and confirm your business is real? This free check tells you in about twenty seconds. It is built for UK businesses, and nobody, including us, can pay to change a score.

For UK business websites. Your result appears here in about 20 seconds, with a ready-made fix for anything that fails. Free, no email needed.

What it checks

17 checks on your homepage, scored out of 100. The same site always gets the same score.

  • Start, 35 points: secure connection, company number, phone, UK address, page title.
  • Build, 45 points: structured data, business schema, linked profiles, AI crawler access, llms.txt, sitemap, meta description, main heading, FAQ schema.
  • Scale, 20 points: readable text, share preview tags, fresh content.

It does not tell you whether AI assistants actually name your business. That also depends on reviews, directories and press. The Visibility Monitor checks that each month. See the AI Visibility Index.

Common questions

Is the Whito Visibility Check really free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, shows the full result on the page, and does not ask for your email address. There is no trial, no account and no card. Whito sells research files, Whito Data, to organisations. A score is never for sale, and the full list of how we earn is on the how we make money page.

What does the score actually measure?

It measures whether your website is structurally readable by search engines and AI assistants. That means things like whether you publish a company number, whether your business is described in structured data, whether AI crawlers are allowed to read you at all, and whether there is enough plain text on the page to quote. It is a check of the foundations, not a prediction.

Does a high score mean AI will recommend my business?

No, and we will not claim otherwise. A high score means the things you control are in order. Whether an engine names you also depends on reviews, directories, awards and coverage you do not control. Our published research shows how varied those answers are: engines frequently disagree with each other about the same question in the same city.

Why does it ask for a company number?

It does not require one, it is optional. If your website publishes a registered company number, anyone including an AI assistant can confirm you are a real, active UK company. That is one of the strongest trust signals a business can add. When we checked 250 UK trade and dental websites in October 2026, 46 of the 113 that present themselves as a limited company showed no company number. What UK law says your website must show.

What if my site scores badly?

Every failed check comes with its fix, in priority order. Where the fix is code or a file, such as business schema, an llms.txt file or a corrected robots.txt, the result gives it to you ready to copy or download, filled in with the details we could read from your site. Most of the common failures take minutes and cost nothing.

How often can I run it?

As often as you like, within reason. Results are cached for an hour per website. After you apply a fix, the Re-check button runs a fresh check once the last result is more than ten minutes old. Checks from one connection are rate limited to stop the tool being scraped.

Do you store my website address?

The result is cached for an hour so repeat checks are fast, then it expires. We do not build a profile, we do not sell the data, and we do not pass it to anyone.

Where do the details in a fix come from?

Only from your own homepage and, where your company number can be found, the Companies House register. If we could not read something, such as your street address or opening hours, the fix shows a highlighted gap for you to fill in rather than a guess. Nothing is changed on your website. You copy the fix and add it yourself.

How do I check if ChatGPT recommends my business?

Ask it the questions your customers ask, for your own town, more than once, and note who it names. Answers change from run to run. This free check does not do that: it checks whether engines can read and confirm your business. The Visibility Monitor asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode the same customer questions every month and shows who gets named.

What is AI visibility?

Whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode can find, read and confirm your business, and whether they name you when someone asks for a firm like yours. This check covers the first part: the things you control on your own website.

Does blocking GPTBot stop ChatGPT finding my business?

It can limit what OpenAI’s systems read from your site. GPTBot is OpenAI’s crawler, and ChatGPT search also uses a separate one, OAI-SearchBot. Blocking AI crawlers while wanting AI visibility is the most common mistake this check finds. If you fail that check, you get a corrected robots.txt filled in for you.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

It is optional and costs nothing. An llms.txt file is a short plain-text summary telling AI systems what your business is and which pages matter. No engine has said it relies on one, so treat it as a small step, not a fix on its own. If you fail that check, the file is written for you to upload.

How is this different from other AI visibility checkers?

Some checkers estimate your visibility with a model, and some ask the engines live, so their results change from run to run. This one reads your website against 17 named checks, so the same site always gets the same score, and the score only moves when your site changes.
