e.surv scores highest of the ten UK property survey brands compared, at 6.0 out of 10 on the Whito leaderboard.
Opinion and analysis. Whito read every brand below by hand, using publicly visible activity only: the first five on 12 October 2026 and the five added to make this a top ten on 22 October 2026, against the same fixed anchors and the same ten searches. Each channel is scored 0 to 10, set out under How we scored, so a score describes what we could see on the day, not the quality of the survey. Brands cannot pay to appear or to change a score. Where a figure is not published, we say so.
Surveyors sell certainty, yet only one of the ten, Pinnacle Surveyors, shows a survey price on its homepage. Most route a homebuyer through a quote form, and two comparison sites offer instant quotes.
e.surv leads clearly, at 6.0, with 4.8 from 15,112 Trustpilot reviews, about 200 Google ads and 2 of 10 UK searches on 12 October. Countrywide Home Surveys is second on 4.1. Four brands sit level on 3.9: Allied Surveyors Scotland, Local Surveyors Direct, PA Surveyors and SDL Surveying.
FindMySurveyor scores lowest, 2.7. The matching platform had a working quote form but no social links, no email capture and 5 Trustpilot reviews when read on 12 October.

Reviews score 2: Trustpilot shows 1.3 from 137 reviews, with no replies on the latest 20. Email scores 0 and countrywidehomesurveys.co.uk appeared in none of 10 UK searches.

Allied Surveyors Scotland scores 3.9, level with three others. Reviews score 7 from 4.6 on 229 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to 17 of the latest 20. Social scores 6 for four platforms. No ads were found and it captures no email.

PA Surveyors, 3.9
PA Surveyors scores 3.9, level with three others. Reviews score 6 from 4.9 on 181 Trustpilot reviews, the highest rating here, but none of the latest 20 has a reply. Social scores 6 for five platforms, and brand 4 for its line as award-winning RICS chartered surveyors in Brighton, Hove and Sussex. No Google ads were found.
SDL Surveying, 3.9
SDL Surveying scores 3.9, level with three others. Reviews score 8 from 4.5 on 1,628 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to 19 of the latest 20. It has a large advice library but no email capture, and no ads were found on 12 October.
Pinnacle Surveyors, 3.6
Pinnacle Surveyors scores 3.6. Its website scores 10, the best here, for prices from £210 on the homepage and a Book now route, the only survey price shown by any of the ten. Reviews score 6 from 4.2 on 323 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to 10 of the latest 20. It links no social platforms and no Google ads were found.
Gateway Surveyors, 3.4

FindMySurveyor, 2.7

What the channels show
Prices are almost never shown
Only Pinnacle Surveyors shows a survey price on its homepage, from £210. e.surv and Countrywide sell online after a quote; RightSurvey and FindMySurveyor compare quotes. The rest ask for a call or a form.
Reviews are strong but replies vary
e.surv holds 15,112 Trustpilot reviews at 4.8. SDL and Gateway reply to 19 of their latest 20; PA Surveyors and Local Surveyors Direct reply to none. Countrywide holds 1.3 from 137.
Search goes to e.surv, publishers and directories
When the ten searches were run again on 22 October, e.surv appeared in four. Building societies, insurers, the RICS and directories took most other places. None of the five added brands appeared.
Email capture barely exists
Eight of the ten capture no email. A homebuyer is in the market for weeks, so a survey checklist by email is an easy win.
Key lessons for any surveying practice
Show a from price
Pinnacle Surveyors shows from £210. A from price for a Level 2 survey answers the first question every buyer asks.
Reply to every review
SDL Surveying and Gateway Surveyors reply to 19 of their latest 20. A reply to a worried buyer shows how you handle problems.
Let buyers book online
e.surv lets buyers book and pay online for a HomePlus survey. A simple booking form is enough for a small firm.
Build a page for each town
e.surv appeared in the London and Leeds searches. A small practice can target its own towns with a page for each one it covers.
Collect an email with a checklist
Eight of the ten capture none. A one-page “what to check before you buy” guide is the obvious offer.
Steal this playbook
Five moves from this leaderboard, ranked by return on effort.
- Publish a from price. Only one of the ten shows a survey price on its homepage.
- Reply to your latest 20 reviews. PA Surveyors and Local Surveyors Direct answer none.
- Write a page for each town you cover. None of the five added brands appeared in any of the ten searches.
- Offer a buyer checklist for an email. Eight of the ten capture none.
- Add online booking. e.surv and Pinnacle let buyers book online.

How we scored
Who is on the board. Ten RICS-regulated (or RICS-panel) home survey brands a UK homebuyer is likely to meet when booking a Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Models: e.surv (national corporate, part of LSL Property Services), Countrywide Home Surveys (national corporate), SDL Surveying (national firm), Allied Surveyors Scotland (regional multi-site, 30 offices across Scotland), FindMySurveyor (online matching platform), Local Surveyors Direct (national surveyor-finding service), PA Surveyors (Sussex chartered surveyors), Pinnacle Surveyors (residential surveyors in England and Wales), Gateway Surveyors (South East chartered surveyors) and RightSurvey (online survey quote comparison). The five added on 22 October were chosen before the searches were run; Connells Survey & Valuation was a first pick but its site could not be reached, so RightSurvey was added. Survey Merchant was rejected because it shows no legal entity. Chosen for relevance and size, not marketing strength.
When we looked. The board launched with five brands, read on 12 October 2026. Five more were added on 22 October 2026 to make a top ten, read against the same anchors below, with the same ten searches run again on that date. The first five were not re-read, so their figures are as of 12 October 2026. Meta Ad Library counts for brands added on 22 October were read on 23 October 2026, after the library was unavailable on 22 October. The first five keep the Paid scores read with both libraries on 12 October 2026.
- Social: which platforms the brand links to from its own site, and whether we could see recent posting and video.
- Website: 2 for a brochure page, 4 with a contact route on mobile, 6 with a page per service and a one-step enquiry, 8 with prices or ranges and registration numbers shown, 10 with online booking, an online checkout or an instant priced quote.
- Email: visible capture only, as we did not subscribe test inboxes for this edition. 2 for a bare newsletter form, 4 for a customer account, 6 for an app, 7 for a newsletter plus an app, up to 10 for a loyalty or app ecosystem with personal offers.
- SEO: ten UK searches for this sector, run through a standard web search API (12 October 2026 for the first five brands, 22 October 2026 for the five added; not personalised, no location set beyond the town in the query); we counted how many returned the brand’s own site in the top ten results. 0 of 10 scores 2, 1 to 2 scores 4, 3 to 4 scores 6, 5 to 6 scores 8, 7 or more scores 10, plus 1 for a substantial advice library. The searches: homebuyer survey; RICS level 2 survey cost; level 3 building survey; house survey before buying; chartered surveyor homebuyer report; home survey London; RICS surveyor Manchester; building survey Bristol; home survey Glasgow; level 2 survey Leeds.
- Paid: the Google Ads Transparency Centre (UK, last 30 days, by domain) and the Meta Ad Library (UK, active ads, counted by the advertiser page). 2 for nothing found in either, 4 for active in one with fewer than 10 ads, 6 for active in both or 10+ in one, 8 for active in both with 10+ in at least one, 10 for 50+ Google ads and 10+ Meta ads. Paid describes visible activity, not quality. A low paid score is not a fault.
- Reviews: a fixed formula. Rating (4.7+ scores 4, 4.5 to 4.69 scores 3, 4.0 to 4.49 scores 2, 3.5 to 3.99 scores 1) plus volume (10,000+ scores 4, 1,000+ scores 3, 100+ scores 2, 20+ scores 1) plus replies to the latest 20 reviews (half or more scores 2, some scores 1). Where Trustpilot sends a brand’s address to a parent company profile, we used that profile and say so.
- Brand: five checks worth 2 each: the same name and logo everywhere, one clear positioning line, a distinctive asset used for years, three or more independent press mentions in 90 days, and named people or expertise on the site. We award only what we could verify on the day.
These anchors are fixed for this edition, so the ten scores can be read against each other, allowing for the days between the two reading dates. Boards published before October 2026 used scores relative to the other brands on the board, so compare across boards with care.
