Knight Frank and Selco Builders Warehouse share the top score of the ten UK construction and property brands compared, at 6.7 out of 10 on the Whito leaderboard.
Opinion and analysis. Whito read every brand below by hand on 22 October 2026, using publicly visible activity only, against fixed anchors and the same ten UK searches. Each channel is scored 0 to 10, set out under How we scored, so a score describes what we could see on the day, not the quality of the work. Brands cannot pay to appear or to change a score. Where a figure is not published, we say so.
Construction and property firms tend to judge their marketing by the homes they build or the branches they open. On this board, the leaders are the firms that keep a customer after the first visit: a builders’ merchant with a trade rewards scheme and an estate agent with newsletters, named people and a 4.8 review rating.
Knight Frank and Selco Builders Warehouse share the lead on 6.7. Savills and Travis Perkins follow on 6.3. The five housebuilders, Barratt Homes, Redrow, Bellway, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey, all publish price ranges and hold large review bases, but four of the five capture no email at all on their homepages.
Border Oak scores lowest at 3.1. The oak-frame specialist links four social platforms and has run since 1980, but it has no Trustpilot profile, no ads were found on Google or Meta, and it appeared in none of 10 UK searches.

- Build a page for each town you work in

Reviews are its strength at 9, from 4.8 on 6,635 Trustpilot reviews, the highest rating on the board, with replies to 13 of the latest 20. Brand scores 6 for one name everywhere, the line ‘London & UK Property Experts’ and a people directory. Email scores 5 for newsletters plus a My Knight Frank account. It appeared in 1 of 10 UK searches, for ‘new build homes London’, and its research and guides earn an advice point. Its website scores 6: a page per service and a free valuation request, but no prices on the homepage.
Selco Builders Warehouse, 6.7
Selco Builders Warehouse scores 6.7, level first with Knight Frank. Its website scores 10, the only top score on the board: products are priced and sold through an online checkout, with free delivery on orders over £150 excluding VAT. Email scores 8, also the highest here, for its tradeREWARDS scheme, which saves Silver members 6% and Gold members 10% at checkout, alongside a trade card and log in. Reviews score 6 from 4.0 on 1,621 Trustpilot reviews, with a reply on 1 of the latest 20. It appeared in none of 10 UK searches, with a point for its blog. Paid scores 10, with 84 Google ads and 83 active Meta ads.
Savills, 6.3

Reviews score 7 from 4.1 on 2,245 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to 13 of the latest 20. Its Insight and Opinion research earns an advice point, and it appeared in 1 of 10 UK searches. Paid scores 10 from about 2,000 Google ads in 30 days and 141 active Meta ads. Email scores 4 for a My Account login. The website offers a valuation booking form and a page per service, with no prices on the homepage.
Travis Perkins, 6.3
Travis Perkins scores 6.3, level third with Savills. Its website scores 9 for online ordering with a quote list and free delivery on orders over £150, short of 10 because few prices showed on the homepage. Email scores 6 for its TP App and a trade account. Reviews score 6 from 3.7 on 4,722 Trustpilot reviews, lifted by replies to 17 of the latest 20. Paid scores 10 from about 500 Google ads and 52 active Meta ads. It appeared in none of 10 UK searches, with a point for its expert advice section.
Bellway, 5.9
Bellway scores 5.9, level with Redrow. It is the only housebuilder here with a customer login on the homepage, so email scores 4. Development pages show price ranges, such as from £215,000 in Bristol, giving a website score of 7. It appeared in 2 of 10 UK searches, Manchester and Bristol. Reviews score 6 from 4.4 on 7,991 Trustpilot reviews, held back by replies to 5 of the latest 20. Paid scores 10 from about 2,000 Google ads and 89 active Meta ads.
Redrow, 5.9
Redrow scores 5.9, level with Bellway. With Barratt it leads on search, appearing in 3 of 10 UK searches (Manchester, Leeds and Bristol), and its inspiration guides add a point, so SEO scores 7. It links six social platforms, the joint most here. Reviews score 7 from 4.4 on 9,756 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to all of the latest 20. Development pages show price ranges, such as £285,000 to £540,000 in Leeds. Email scores 0: no sign-up, account or app was seen on the homepage.
Barratt Homes, 5.7
Barratt Homes scores 5.7, level with Persimmon. It shares the search lead with Redrow, appearing in 3 of 10 UK searches (Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol), and its advice and inspiration section adds a point. Reviews score 8 from 4.5 on 9,884 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to all of the latest 20. Development pages show price ranges, such as £249,995 to £394,995 in Birmingham. Email scores 0, with no sign-up, account or app on the homepage, and social links cover three platforms.
Persimmon Homes, 5.7
Persimmon Homes scores 5.7, level with Barratt. Reviews score 9, joint highest with Knight Frank, from 4.5 on 13,577 Trustpilot reviews, the most on the board, with replies to 18 of the latest 20. Development pages show prices, such as from £275,000 in Bristol, and it links six social platforms. It appeared in 1 of 10 UK searches, for ‘new build homes Bristol’. Email scores 0: no sign-up, account or app was seen on the homepage. Paid scores 10 from about 2,000 Google ads and 90 active Meta ads.
Taylor Wimpey, 4.3
Taylor Wimpey scores 4.3. Reviews score 8 from 4.0 on 11,665 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to 16 of the latest 20, and development pages show price ranges, such as £220,000 to £750,000 in Bristol. Paid scores 10 from about 2,000 Google ads and 149 active Meta ads. The rest is thin: no social links were found on the homepage, so social scores 0, no email capture was seen, and it appeared in none of 10 UK searches, with a point for its inspiration and buyer guides.
Border Oak, 3.1
Border Oak scores 3.1, the lowest of the ten. It is the one small, specialist firm on the board, designing and building bespoke oak-framed homes since 1980. Social scores 6 for four platforms, level with much larger brands. Its website scores 6 for service pages covering design and planning, without prices. Email scores 2 for an email sign-up form. No Trustpilot profile was found, no Google or Meta ads were found and it appeared in none of 10 UK searches. The clearest gap is public proof a new client can check.
What the channels show
Prices are now standard for housebuilders
All five housebuilders publish price ranges on their development pages, from £215,000 at Bellway in Bristol to £1,035,000 at Redrow in Leeds, and all score 7 for website. The two merchants go further: Selco sells through an online checkout and scores 10. Savills, Knight Frank and Border Oak show no prices on the homepage and score 6.
Email is the biggest gap
Barratt Homes, Redrow, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey captured no email on their homepages and score 0, even though a home purchase takes months. Selco scores 8 for its tradeREWARDS scheme and Travis Perkins 6 for its app. For a builder or agent, a buyer who leaves without giving an email address is hard to bring back.
Search rewards a page per town
Barratt Homes and Redrow each appeared in 3 of 10 UK searches and Bellway in 2, every time through a town development page. Searches for builders, extension costs and build costs returned none of the ten; those results were held by directories, lenders and price guides. A local builder’s own cost page competes on open ground.
Replies are common, ratings are not the whole story
Barratt Homes and Redrow replied to all of their latest 20 Trustpilot reviews, Persimmon Homes to 18 and Travis Perkins to 17. Knight Frank holds the highest rating, 4.8, and Persimmon Homes the most reviews, 13,577. Border Oak has no profile at all, which is why its score falls furthest behind.
Key lessons for any small builder or property firm
Publish a price range
Every housebuilder here shows a range for each development. A builder can do the same: ‘kitchen extensions from £X to £Y, depending on size and spec’ filters out the wrong enquiries and answers the first question.
Capture an email before the buyer leaves
Four of the five housebuilders captured no email on the homepage. A simple cost checklist or project planner in exchange for an email address keeps you in touch through a decision that can take months.
Build a page for each town you work in
Barratt Homes, Redrow and Bellway only appeared in search through their town pages. A page per town with your recent jobs, photos and prices is how a small firm competes locally.
Reward the customers who come back
Selco’s tradeREWARDS saves members up to 10% and earns the top email score here. A small merchant or trade supplier can offer the same with a simple discount for regular accounts.
Get your first public reviews
Border Oak has no Trustpilot profile and scores 0 for reviews, while every other brand scores 6 or more. Ask every finished client for a review on one platform and reply to each one.
Steal this playbook
Five moves from this leaderboard, ranked by return on effort.
- Ask every finished client for a review. Border Oak, with no review profile, scores 3.1; every brand with a profile scores 6 or more for reviews.
- Put a price range on your main services. All five housebuilders publish ranges and score 7 for website; the brands with no prices score 6.
- Add one email sign-up with a useful download. Four of the five housebuilders capture no email and score 0, the biggest gap on the board.
- Build a page for each town you cover. Every search appearance by a housebuilder came through a town development page.
- Reply to every review. Barratt Homes and Redrow replied to all of their latest 20 reviews.

How we scored
Who is on the board. Ten UK brands a homebuyer, self-builder or tradesperson is likely to meet, spanning models: Barratt Homes, Redrow, Persimmon Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Bellway (national housebuilders), Savills and Knight Frank (national estate agents and property consultancies), Selco Builders Warehouse and Travis Perkins (builders’ merchants) and Border Oak (specialist oak-frame design and build firm, trading since 1980). Chosen for relevance and size, not marketing strength. Redrow is now part of the same group as Barratt but keeps its own brand and website.
When we looked. All ten brands were read on 22 October 2026. This board was first published with scores relative to the other brands on it. On 22 October 2026 it was rescored on Whito’s fixed anchors and expanded to ten brands, so scores are not comparable with the earlier edition. Meta Ad Library counts were read on 23 October 2026, after the library was unavailable on 22 October.
- Social: which platforms the brand links to from its own site, and whether we could see recent posting and video.
- Website: 2 for a brochure page, 4 with a contact route on mobile, 6 with a page per service and a one-step enquiry, 8 with prices or ranges and registration numbers shown, 10 with online booking or an instant priced quote.
- Email: visible capture only, as we did not subscribe test inboxes for this edition. 2 for a bare newsletter form, up to 10 for a loyalty or app ecosystem with personal offers.
- SEO: ten UK searches for this trade, run through a standard web search API (22 October 2026; not personalised, no location set beyond the town in the query); we counted how many returned the brand’s own site in the top ten results. 0 of 10 scores 2, 1 to 2 scores 4, 3 to 4 scores 6, 5 to 6 scores 8, 7 or more scores 10, plus 1 for a substantial advice library. The searches: builders near me; house extension cost UK; cost to build a house UK; new build homes for sale; builders merchant near me; new build homes London; new build homes Manchester; new build homes Birmingham; new build homes Leeds; new build homes Bristol.
- Paid: the Google Ads Transparency Centre (UK, last 30 days, by domain) and the Meta Ad Library (UK, active ads whose text names the brand, counted by the advertiser page). 2 for nothing found in either, 4 for active in one with fewer than 10 ads, 6 for active in both or 10+ in one, 8 for active in both with 10+ in at least one, 10 for 50+ Google ads and 10+ Meta ads. Paid describes visible activity, not quality. A low paid score is not a fault.
- Reviews: a fixed formula. Rating (4.7+ scores 4, 4.5 to 4.69 scores 3, 4.0 to 4.49 scores 2, 3.5 to 3.99 scores 1) plus volume (10,000+ scores 4, 1,000+ scores 3, 100+ scores 2, 20+ scores 1) plus replies to the latest 20 reviews (half or more scores 2, some scores 1).
- Brand: five checks worth 2 each: the same name and logo everywhere, one clear positioning line, a distinctive asset used for years, three or more independent press mentions in 90 days, and named people or expertise on the site.
These anchors are fixed for this edition, so the ten scores can be read against each other. Boards published before October 2026 used scores relative to the other brands on the board, so compare across boards with care.
