Physio Clinic Marketing Guide UK 2026
Independent physios compete with chains that have insurer contracts. The engines do not care about the contracts. They care what they can read about you.
Finding
Google AI Mode named 734 businesses as trustworthy local firms across 20 UK towns on 22 August 2026, and 38 of the 728 names Whito could check, 5.2%, could not be verified as an active company trading in that town against Companies House.

Start, Build, Scale
The right order for physio clinics
Do the stages in order. Nothing in Build works while Start is missing.
Start, Build, Scale for physio clinics: the free foundations first, then systems and proof, then measurement. The three stages are listed in full in this figure.
Start
- HCPC numbers in text for each clinician
- Prices published
- Google Business Profile complete
Build
- One page per condition you treat
- Online booking with real availability
- Reviews asked after discharge
Scale
- Track self-pay bookings by source
- Write more for the conditions that convert
- GP and gym referral links
What we know, and what we have not measured yet
Whito has not yet run a physio-specific engine study. The figures above come from Whito’s cross-industry research and hold for any local service business: the engines lean on your own website and your Google profile, most small business sites publish no price, and one in twenty AI recommendations cannot be verified at Companies House.
What we have published for physios is a scored comparison of the five biggest UK physio brands and a piece on how AI engines pick a clinic when a patient asks by condition rather than by name. Both are below.
When the physio study runs, it will appear on this page first, dated.
Three things that cost you visibility
Patients ask by condition, not by name
Back pain, a running knee, post-op rehab. If your site has one generic services page, there is nothing for an engine to match the question to.
Protected title, hidden number
Physiotherapist is a protected title. If your HCPC numbers are in a footer image or not on the site at all, a machine cannot tell you from a sports massage account.
Insurer directories doing your marketing
Being on an insurer’s list fills the diary until it does not. Self-pay patients find you through search and reviews, and that channel needs to be yours.
Where to start
In order. Structure before scale.
Start: be findable and real
Company number, clinic address and phone in text. HCPC registration numbers per clinician. One page per condition you actually treat.
Build: give machines something to read
MedicalClinic or Physiotherapy schema, prices in writing, clinician biographies with qualifications, online booking that works on a phone.
Scale: build the evidence layer
Ask for Google reviews systematically. Check monthly what the engines say when someone in your town asks for a physio. Fix whatever they get wrong.

The register that matters
HCPC
Physiotherapist is a protected title and every physio is on the HCPC register. Registration numbers on the site, per clinician, in text.
