Whito Data: UK Business Research Files, Register-Checked

Whito Data sells the spreadsheet files behind Whito’s free research. Each file records what AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode named in UK towns on a stated date, checked against official registers such as Companies House, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The findings stay free to read. Published files start at £1,280 and are delivered within one working day.

Whito Data

The findings are free. The report is the file.

UK research files. Most check every name the AI engines gave us against Companies House or the regulator, and each file says which register it used. Cost and price workings with a source on every figure. Each file is a PDF plus the raw CSV, with the collection date printed inside. Nobody can pay to appear, or to be left out.

8 reports on sale From £1,280 Delivered in 1 working day PDF plus raw CSV

For agencies, franchise groups, insurers, trade bodies and vendors. Running one business? You want the Visibility Monitor.

The engines already lean on this work. Microsoft’s Copilot report shows Whito research cited 17,400 times across 127 pages in the three months to 28 August 2026. What those citations did and did not send back is a published Whito study.

All eight files at a glance

£1,280 each, bought outright. Each is a PDF plus the raw CSV, emailed within one working day. Read the free study first: it uses the same method. Full details of every file are further down.

What the files show

Four findings from files on sale today. Every one is free to read in full, with the method and the limits, before you spend anything. The file is the working behind it: every answer, every name, every register check, as a CSV.

Who buys this

Software and platform vendors

You sell to these businesses. The report shows which of them already get recommended and what that visibility rests on.

Groups, franchises and insurers

If you run, franchise or insure more than one of the businesses in a run, you are reading a sample of your own exposure. The grid shows which sites get recommended, which are invisible, and which recommended names cannot be matched to an active company.

Lead platforms and comparison sites

The data shows which directories sit behind the answers. In our free Q3 Index, Checkatrade sat behind 50 of the 60 trade answers.

Trade bodies

Whether members are visible, whether the register checks hold up, and what gets cited about your industry. On a fixed method you can quote.

Investors and analysts

The verification split as a due diligence lens. Which operators get pushed, whether those names are live companies, and how concentrated the market is.

Not for a single tradesperson deciding where to list. If that is you, the free studies, the free directory listing and the free AI check answer your questions, and they stay free. Want to know each month whether AI assistants name your business, and who they name instead? That is the Visibility Monitor, £280 a month, cancel any time.

What organisations use the files for

Four jobs the files get bought for. Each links to a free study built the same way, so you can judge the method before you spend anything.

Risk and compliance

For insurers, lead platforms and groups. Which recommended or listed businesses cannot be matched to an active company, and how stale the register data behind a rating really is. Usual buy: a built-to-order sector file or the 12-City Register File.

From the free work: the median current Outstanding CQC rating in England was published 6 years and 8 months before the register file date. The better the rating, the older it is. Read the study →

Pricing and market intelligence

For software and platform vendors. Where your product sits in the stack UK businesses actually buy, and what the gap to the alternatives really is. Usual buy: the Software Price File, or a built-to-order file with the quarterly Refresh.

From the free work: a five-job UK marketing stack priced on 1 October 2026 cost £2,667 a year with brand names and £1,319.73 with the cheapest working alternatives. Read the study →

Member and sector benchmarking

For trade bodies and associations. How a sector’s firms actually show up: register match rates, website basics and AI visibility, cut by town. Usual buy: a built-to-order sector file, re-run on a schedule with the Refresh.

From the free work: of 250 UK trade and dental websites we read, 41% of those presenting as limited companies showed no company number anywhere on the site. Read the study →

Due diligence

For investors and franchise groups. Concentration, verification gaps and contract terms across a vertical before you commit money to it. Usual buy: the 12-City Register File or a multi-sector built-to-order scope.

From the free work: 19 of 39 UK agencies with a public monthly price do not say on the pricing page how you leave. Read the study →

Every file follows the same rules: fixed published method, a dated register check wherever the file says so, raw CSV plus PDF, and nothing anyone can pay to change. See the files →   Built to order →

Which file do I need?

Each report on sale is its most recent collection, and the collection date is printed inside the file. When we re-run a panel, the new collection goes on sale in its place and the earlier file stays in the Whito archive. The engines overwrite their answers as they happen, so nobody, Whito included, can collect a past day on a later day: the files are the only record.

Add a quarterly update so the file does not go stale. For £990 a quarter we run the same scope again, with a new collection date, and email you the fresh PDF and CSV. Choose Buy with quarterly Refresh on any of the eight published reports; for built-to-order files the Refresh is agreed when the scope is. The first quarter is paid with the file, so it is £2,270 on the day, then £990 every three months. Or buy the file on its own and add the update later. Cancel any time in the Stripe billing portal, with no notice period and no cancellation fee, and everything already delivered stays yours.

Already bought a file? Add the quarterly refresh on its own for £990 a quarter: start the refresh here. Pay with the same email you used for your file and we match the refresh to your existing scope. Each new quarter’s PDF and CSV goes to that address, and you can cancel any time in the Stripe billing portal.

Eight reports on sale today. The quarterly recommendation panels are next collected in December 2026, and Refresh subscribers receive each re-run of their file automatically.

What arrives

A PDF and the raw CSV data, by email, whichever report you buy.

The PDF

One page on what the data shows and what it is built on. Then the full grids: every answer, every business named, the cross-checks, and anything dissolved or in liquidation flagged with company numbers and dates. The method in full, the exact prompts and collection dates, what was thrown out and why, and the limitations written plainly rather than buried.

The CSV

The file the PDF is built from, one row per data point, so you can check the working or run your own cuts. Sort it, filter it, join it to your own data. For an AI sector report the columns are below; cost and sector files carry the equivalent working for their study.

The CSV columns, in full
ColumnWhat it holds
CityThe city or town the question named
EngineChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Mode
QuestionThe exact wording put to the engine
Business namedThe name exactly as the engine gave it
PositionWhere it sat in the answer, for example third of five
Reason givenWhat the engine said in its favour, quoted
Companies HouseMatched, not matched, or ambiguous

StatusActive, dissolved or in liquidation, with the date

The free electricians sample shows all of this on one town, Coventry: 13 businesses named, 8 verified as active in the area, 4 with no register match, 1 dissolved. Read the free sample.

Rules that do not bend

The contract

No name is ever added to, softened in, or removed from a dataset for a fee. If a business is in the file, an engine named it or a register we checked holds it. If it fails a register check, the file says so, whoever is paying.

The method is public. Every study says what was asked or collected, on what date, with what wording, how many answers came back, and what was thrown out. The findings stay free because that is the business model: you can check our working before you spend a pound.

If an agency reuses our findings with its clients, attribution is required, measured independently by Whito.

The record compounds. Our dated answer logs run back to July 2026, edition one of the AI Visibility Index alone preserves 728 raw entries checked against Companies House, and a record that starts today starts at zero.

How we make money · Corrections

About the businesses named

Being in a file is not an allegation that a business has done anything wrong, and nothing in these reports should be read as one. A register check records what the register said on the date printed in the file. Where a name could not be matched, that is a statement about the search on that date and nothing more. It does not mean a business is unregistered, unauthorised, or trading improperly.

Ratings, company status and authorisation details belong to the regulator or to Companies House rather than to us. We reproduce them with the date we read them, and the regulator stays the source of truth.

If your business is named in a report and you believe a fact is wrong, tell us. We check it against the source, we correct the file, and we tell every buyer who has already received a copy. Right of reply is free and you do not need a solicitor to ask. The route is on our corrections, right of reply and removals page.

Reuse and licence

Three licences: Single organisation (included with every file), Professional (client-facing use) and Enterprise (system use). Compare the licences. Buying for a larger scope, a region or a year? See the options for organisations.

The findings are open. Every figure, chart and summary table in a free Whito study is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You can copy, restate, translate and build on them, commercially or not, as long as you credit Whito and link to the page the figure came from.

Credit line to copy: Source: Whito (whito.co.uk), [study title], data collected [date]. Licensed CC BY 4.0. Keep the sample and the date with the figure.

Two things it does not cover. Lists that name individual businesses, because register status changes and the dated, corrected copy lives here. And the paid files: a purchased PDF and raw CSV are licensed to the buying organisation under section 6 of our terms. Quote and cite from them with the same credit line; do not republish or pass on the file.

When a figure changes, the correction is dated on the study and logged on the corrections page. Check there before you republish an older number.

Questions before you buy

What can I actually buy?

Eight published reports at £1,280 each, bought outright. Three common scopes have fixed prices: one named business watched for £280 a month, a 12-city register file for £2,800, and a software price file for a vendor at £1,280. Other sector reports, cost and sector files and bespoke work are built to order, with a fixed price agreed in writing. Files are one-off purchases. The two recurring charges are the quarterly Refresh, which re-runs a file you already bought, and the Visibility Monitor, and both can be cancelled any time.

Can we see something first?

Yes. The free electricians sample is one complete town from a real report, with the full method. Every free study on the research hub shows the findings layer of the corresponding file.

How can a report be ready in one working day?

Because the method is fixed and already published. We run it, we do not design it from scratch. Bespoke work takes longer and we say so when we quote.

Is this the same as your free research?

No. The free research gives you the findings and the method. The report gives you the complete dataset: every row, every name, every check, as a CSV you can work with.

Is VAT added?

No VAT is added. Whito Ltd is not VAT registered, so the price shown is the price paid.

Who can use a report once we have bought it?

One company. Share it internally as widely as you like. Not for resale or republication.

What if the report is not what this page says it is?

Tell us and we refund you. We would rather do that than argue.

How does the quarterly Refresh work, and can I add it to a file I already bought?

For £990 a quarter we run the same scope again, with a new collection date, and email you the fresh PDF and CSV. Choose Buy with quarterly Refresh on any of the eight published reports; for built-to-order files the Refresh is agreed when the scope is. The first quarter is paid with the file, so it is £2,270 on the day, then £990 every three months. Already bought a file? Start the refresh here and pay with the same email you used for your file, and we match the refresh to your existing scope. Cancel any time in the Stripe billing portal, with no notice period and no cancellation fee, and everything already delivered stays yours.

Is it only AI data?

No. AI visibility reports are one family. The same shelf carries the cost and sector files, built to order: the working data behind our software price, marketing cost and sector research. Ask us about any study on the site.

Can we licence a Whito result for our own marketing?

A business that has passed a check that has already happened can licence the right to say so in its own marketing, after the fact and for a fee. It cannot buy the check, the result, a retest or a score, and the licence changes nothing on this site. The result exists first. Money never touches it.

Scope, licence and invoicing questions come to the contact page. Every file is dated, and mistakes are corrected in public.
