Travel Agent Marketing Guide UK 2026
AI can plan a trip. It cannot protect the money. That is the whole case for a human agent, and most agency websites never make it.
Finding
The business’s own website was cited in 143 of the 159 Google AI Mode answers Whito logged on 22 August 2026, 90%, and Google reviews or Business Profiles in 128, 81%, while Trustpilot appeared in just 2 answers and no news outlet in any.

Start, Build, Scale
The right order for travel agents
Do the stages in order. Nothing in Build works while Start is missing.
Start, Build, Scale for travel agents: the free foundations first, then systems and proof, then measurement. The three stages are listed in full in this figure.
Start
- ATOL and ABTA numbers in text, with what each covers
- Google Business Profile complete
- A person to phone, shown
Build
- One page per specialism, from trips you have sold
- Reviews after each trip
- Protection explained plainly
Scale
- Track bookings by source
- A past-customer newsletter
- Referrals asked after every trip
What we know, and what we have not measured yet
Whito has not yet run a travel-specific engine study. The figures above come from Whito’s cross-industry research and hold for any local service business: the engines cite your own website and your Google profile far above anything else, most business sites publish no price, and one in twenty AI recommendations cannot be verified.
What we have published for travel is a scored comparison of the five biggest UK travel brands, and a piece on why trust is now the channel.
When the travel study runs, it will appear on this page first, dated.
Three things that cost you visibility
ATOL and ABTA as logos, not text
A badge image is invisible to an engine. Your ATOL number and ABTA membership in plain text, with what they protect, is the strongest sentence on the site.
Competing with the engines on itineraries
ChatGPT writes a ten day itinerary in seconds. Do not try to beat it. Sell what it cannot do: financial protection, a person to phone when the flight is cancelled, and expertise in a specific kind of trip.
One generic site for every holiday
The agency that specialises in something, and says so on a page of its own, is the one the engines can match to the question.
Where to start
In order. Structure before scale.
Start: be findable and real
Company number, address and phone in text. ATOL number and ABTA membership stated in words, with what they cover.
Build: give machines something to read
TravelAgency schema, one page per specialism, named consultants with real biographies, prices or price-from figures in writing.
Scale: build the evidence layer
Systematic review requests, a monthly check of what the engines say about travel agents in your town, and the specialist pages kept current.
The library
Every guide for travel agents
2 guides. All specific to travel agents, every figure dated.

The register that matters
ATOL (CAA) and ABTA
Both are public and both are checkable. Number and membership in text on every page, not in a footer image.
