Nursery and Childcare Marketing Guide UK 2026
Parents ask ChatGPT before they ask around. What the engines can read about your setting decides whether you are in the answer.
Finding
Google AI Mode named 734 businesses as trustworthy local firms across 20 UK towns on 22 August 2026, and 38 of the 728 names Whito could check, 5.2%, could not be verified as an active company trading in that town against Companies House.

Start, Build, Scale
The right order for nurseries
Do the stages in order. Nothing in Build works while Start is missing.
Start, Build, Scale for nurseries: the free foundations first, then systems and proof, then measurement. The three stages are listed in full in this figure.
Start
- Ofsted URN in text, linked to the report
- Fees and funded hours published
- Google Business Profile complete
Build
- One page per room and age group
- Staff introductions
- A visit-booking form
Scale
- Track enquiries to places by source
- A waiting-list process
- Referrals from current parents
What we know, and what we have not measured yet
Whito has not yet run a childcare-specific engine study. The figures above come from Whito’s cross-industry research and hold for any local service: the engines cite your own website and your Google profile above everything else, most small business sites publish no price, and one in twenty AI recommendations cannot be verified at Companies House.
What we have published for the sector is a scored comparison of the five biggest UK nursery groups, below. It shows where the groups spend and what an independent setting can do that a group cannot.
When the childcare study runs, it will appear on this page first, dated.
Three things that cost you visibility
Ofsted URN nowhere on the site
Every registered setting has an Ofsted URN and a public report. If a parent or an engine cannot get from your site to the report in one click, you look like you are hiding it.
Fees behind a phone call
Parents compare on price and hours. A fee page in writing wins the enquiry from the setting that says call us.
Photos you cannot legally use
Child photography needs consent you can evidence. Stock photos of children read as fake. Photograph the rooms, the garden and the staff instead.
Where to start
In order. Structure before scale.
Start: be findable and real
Company number, Ofsted URN with a link to the report, address and phone in text, fees and funded hours in writing.
Build: give machines something to read
ChildCare schema, one page per room or age group, staff qualifications named, the funded hours position stated plainly.
Scale: build the evidence layer
Google reviews asked for at the right moments, a monthly check of what the engines say about nurseries in your town, and the report date kept current on the site.
The library
Every guide for nurseries
2 guides. All specific to nurseries, every figure dated.

The register that matters
Ofsted (England), Care Inspectorate, CIW, or your national regulator
Your URN and a link to your latest report belong on the site in text. Parents check it, engines read it.
Two free things from us
Run the free Whito Visibility Check on your website. Seventeen checks, scored out of 100, every result shown on the page, no email needed: Check your site free
Or get your setting listed in our directory, free and checked against Companies House: List your business on Whito
Whito is not a childcare professional and this page is marketing guidance, not advice on registration, safeguarding, funding or regulation.
