Busy Bees scores highest of the ten UK nursery groups compared, at 6.7 out of 10 on the Whito leaderboard.
Opinion and analysis. Whito read every brand below by hand on 22 October 2026, using publicly visible activity only, against fixed anchors and the same ten UK searches. Each channel is scored 0 to 10, set out under How we scored, so a score describes what we could see on the day, not the quality of the care. Brands cannot pay to appear or to change a score. Where a figure is not published, we say so.
Childcare is the industry where the customer cannot tell you how their day went, so parents shortlist on proof. On this board, the public proof is thin. None of the ten shows a fee on its pages, three have no Trustpilot profile, and eight of the ten appeared in none of 10 UK searches.
Busy Bees scores 6.7, well clear of Bright Horizons on 5.3 and Tops Day Nurseries on 5.0. It is the only group with a fee calculator, a parent app and a Trustpilot profile above 1,000 reviews.
Banana Moon Day Nursery scores lowest at 2.0. It links no social profiles, captures no email, has no Trustpilot profile and appeared in none of 10 UK searches. It ran no Google ads, though its pages ran 15 Meta ads.

What the channels show
Nobody publishes their fees
None of the ten shows a fee on its pages. Busy Bees comes closest with a fees and funding calculator by centre, which earns a website score of 9. The others explain funding, list nurseries or ask parents to book a visit, and score 4 or 6. For a cost most families plan around for years, the price is still the hardest thing to find.
Search goes to directories and councils
Only Bright Horizons and Kids Planet appeared in any of 10 UK searches, each for ‘day nursery’ in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. The cost searches went to news sites, universities and nursery directories, and ‘day nursery’ alone returned council pages. Eight of the ten groups appeared in none.
Reviews live somewhere else
Three groups have no Trustpilot profile and four more have fewer than 50 reviews there. Busy Bees, on 4.3 from 1,716 with replies to 11 of the latest 20, is the only group with real volume. Partou replies to all 20 of its latest reviews but has 42 in total. Parents in this sector review on daynurseries.co.uk and Google; we keep Trustpilot for consistency across boards.
The parent app is the email list
Busy Bees and The Old Station Nursery score 6 on email for a parent app, and Tops 4 for a parent login. The other seven capture no email on the homepage. For a nursery, the daily app update is how families stay in touch, and it is the one retention channel that runs every day.
Key lessons for any nursery
Publish your fees
None of the ten groups shows a fee. A clear fee table with funded hours explained makes you the trustworthy option before a single visit, and filters out enquiries that were never going to book.
Own your town’s search
Bright Horizons and Kids Planet appeared only through town pages. A single nursery can build the same page for its own town, with Ofsted outcome, fees, opening hours and staff names, and compete where eight national groups are absent.
Put your proof above the fold
Your Ofsted outcome, review score and years operating belong at the top of your homepage. Parents shortlist on evidence before they ever phone.
Reply to every review
Busy Bees replies to 11 of its latest 20 Trustpilot reviews and Partou to all 20. Replying in your own words shows the next parent how you handle concerns.
Treat your daily updates as marketing
Two groups here sell their parent app as a reason to choose them. If you use one, make the updates good enough to be shown around.
Steal this playbook
Five moves from this leaderboard, ranked by return on effort.
- Publish a fees page with real numbers. None of the ten groups shows a fee; Busy Bees’ calculator is the closest and earns the best website score here.
- Build a page for your town. Eight of the ten groups appeared in none of 10 UK searches.
- Ask happy parents for reviews at milestones. Three groups have no Trustpilot profile at all.
- Reply to every review. Partou replies to all 20 of its latest reviews.
- Link your social profiles from your site. Kids Planet and Banana Moon link none.
The evidence behind the scores
One line per channel, as read on the date shown for each brand. Review figures change daily; these are the numbers on the day we looked.

How we scored
Who is on the board. Ten UK nursery groups a family is likely to meet when looking for childcare: Busy Bees (the UK’s largest nursery group), Kids Planet (fast-growing national group), Bright Horizons (community and workplace nurseries), N Family Club (premium nursery group founded in 2017), Monkey Puzzle (nursery franchise), Storal (nursery group), Tops Day Nurseries (south of England nursery group), The Old Station Nursery (nursery group in England and Wales), Banana Moon Day Nursery (nursery franchise) and Partou (nursery group). Chosen for relevance and size, not marketing strength.
This board was first published with scores relative to the other brands on it. On 22 October 2026 it was rescored on Whito’s fixed anchors and expanded to ten brands, so scores are not comparable with the earlier edition.
When we looked. All ten brands were read on 22 October 2026, with the ten searches below run once on that date. Meta Ad Library counts were read on 23 October 2026, after the library was unavailable on 22 October. Parents in this sector often review on daynurseries.co.uk and Google; we use Trustpilot on every board for consistency.
- Social: which platforms the brand links to from its own site, and whether we could see recent posting and video.
- Website: 2 for a brochure page, 4 with a contact route on mobile, 6 with a page per service and a one-step enquiry, 8 with prices or ranges and registration numbers shown, 10 with online booking or an instant priced quote.
- Email: visible capture only, as we did not subscribe test inboxes for this edition. 2 for a bare newsletter form, up to 10 for a loyalty or app ecosystem with personal offers.
- SEO: ten UK searches for this trade, run through a standard web search API (22 October 2026; not personalised, no location set beyond the town in the query); we counted how many returned the brand’s own site in the top ten results. 0 of 10 scores 2, 1 to 2 scores 4, 3 to 4 scores 6, 5 to 6 scores 8, 7 or more scores 10, plus 1 for a substantial advice library. The searches: nursery near me childcare UK; how much does nursery cost UK; full time nursery fees per month UK; day nursery; 30 hours free childcare nursery places; day nursery London; day nursery Manchester; day nursery Birmingham; day nursery Leeds; day nursery Bristol.
- Paid: the Google Ads Transparency Centre (UK, last 30 days, by domain) and the Meta Ad Library (UK, active ads whose text names the brand, counted by the advertiser page). 2 for nothing found in either, 4 for active in one with fewer than 10 ads, 6 for active in both or 10+ in one, 8 for active in both with 10+ in at least one, 10 for 50+ Google ads and 10+ Meta ads. Paid describes visible activity, not quality. A low paid score is not a fault.
- Reviews: a fixed formula. Rating (4.7+ scores 4, 4.5 to 4.69 scores 3, 4.0 to 4.49 scores 2, 3.5 to 3.99 scores 1) plus volume (10,000+ scores 4, 1,000+ scores 3, 100+ scores 2, 20+ scores 1) plus replies to the latest 20 reviews (half or more scores 2, some scores 1).
- Brand: five checks worth 2 each: the same name and logo everywhere, one clear positioning line, a distinctive asset used for years, three or more independent press mentions in 90 days, and named people or expertise on the site.
These anchors are fixed for this edition, so the ten scores can be read against each other. Boards published before October 2026 used scores relative to the other brands on the board, so compare across boards with care.

Who is the biggest nursery group in the UK in 2026?
Busy Bees, with around 390 nurseries across the UK, Ireland and beyond. Kids Planet is second with 266 settings, having overtaken Bright Horizons on around 270, according to Nursery World’s 2026 nursery groups report.
