Zite is the rare AI app builder aimed at businesses rather than developers. It launched in April 2025 from the team behind Fillout, and in March 2026 the whole company renamed itself around it. This review covers what it verifiably does, what it costs, and where it fits for a UK business.
The Whito stage check
Zite: the verified facts
| What it is | An AI app builder. Describe the tool you need and it builds a working app with a database, logins and hosting included. The generated logic stays visually editable, so you are not stuck with code you cannot read. |
| Who makes it | Restly Inc, the team behind the form builder Fillout. The company renamed itself Zite in March 2026, with Fillout continuing as a product under the Zite umbrella. |
| Launched | April 2025, so it is a young product on a proven company’s infrastructure. |
| Built in | Database (spreadsheet-style, currency and attachment fields included), logins via magic link, Google or SSO, roles and permissions, workflows, webhooks, custom domains. |
| Security | SOC 2 Type II, audit logs, 256-bit encryption. Customers named on its site include a US county election office and Domino’s France. |
The five features that actually matter
Zite lists dozens of capabilities, and most of them are the same capabilities every no-code platform lists. These five are the ones that change what a business can realistically get done, and they are the reason the free tier is worth an hour of your time. All checked against Zite’s own product pages and documentation on 26 August 2026.
1. It builds from a description, and what comes out stays editable
You describe the tool you need in plain English. Zite generates the pages, the tables, the fields and the relationships between them. Its AI agent will also plan changes, add pages and update workflows on request afterwards.
The part that matters is not the generating. It is what you are left holding. Code generators hand you a codebase, and the day you do not understand it is the day you stop being able to change it. Zite hands you a visual app, so the person who asked for the change can make the change.
For a business with nobody technical on the payroll, that difference is the entire decision.
2. The database is the real product
Every workspace comes with a Zite Database, running on PostgreSQL, and both apps and forms read from it. One copy of the data, not a spreadsheet per person.
It imports from CSV, Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable and Notion. It handles relational data, saved views, and granular permissions over who may see and edit which table.
Strip the language away and the honest description is this: it is your shared spreadsheet with the version control problem removed, and with an audit trail of who changed what. If you have ever had two people editing different copies of the same stock list, you already know what that is worth.
3. Logins and permissions come built in, not bolted on
Users sign in by magic link, Google, or SSO on the higher tiers. Roles control access by table and by action, managed in one place rather than per app.
This is the feature small firms consistently underestimate. The moment a tool needs to be seen by a client, a subcontractor or a part-time bookkeeper, but not by everyone, most cheap solutions fall over. Sending a filtered spreadsheet by email is not access control. It is a copy you have permanently lost control of.
4. Workflows, so the tool does something without you
Beyond screens, Zite runs workflows: notifications, record updates, scheduled actions, follow-ups and integrations. Named integrations include Slack, Microsoft Teams, Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe, Twilio, Jira and Linear.
Workflow runs are metered separately from AI credits: 1,000 a month on Free, 5,000 on Pro, 50,000 on Business. For a small firm those are generous numbers, but they are a meter, so know they exist.
5. Unlimited users on every plan, including free
This is the genuinely unusual one and it is worth stating plainly. Every Zite plan allows unlimited users. Most tools in this category charge per seat, which is exactly the mechanism that turns a useful internal tool into a line item you resent.
It means the cost of putting your whole team, and your clients, inside the same tool is zero extra. What you pay for instead is storage, records and AI credits. Whether that trade is better depends on your shape: lots of people touching modest amounts of data, and Zite wins comfortably.
Everything above sits on the free plan, bar custom domains, branding removal and the advanced AI models.

What you would actually build with it
Feature lists are easy to admire and hard to act on. These are the app shapes Zite itself puts forward, and that its template marketplace already covers, mapped against what they replace and the stage they belong to.
| Build this | To replace | Stage |
|---|---|---|
| Quote and invoice generator | A Word template and manual numbering | Build |
| Job or inventory tracker | The shared spreadsheet everyone edits at once | Build |
| Custom CRM | A notebook, or a CRM you pay per seat for | Build |
| Client portal | Emailed PDFs and “did you get my last one” | Build |
| Team wiki or SOP hub | Documents nobody can find twice | Build |
| Vendor or subcontractor portal | Chasing suppliers for status by phone | Scale |
| Staff onboarding tracker | A checklist that lives in one person’s head | Scale |
Now notice what is missing from that list. No public website. No online shop. No booking page.
Zite builds internal tools and client-facing portals. It is not a website builder, and using it as one would be a mistake. If a website is what you are short of, that is a different job and a different budget: start with the website builders comparison instead.
The same company’s form builder covers a different job again, and if what you actually need is a better enquiry form rather than an app, read the Fillout review first. Structure before scale applies inside a toolset as much as across one.
Zite pricing (re-checked 26 August 2026)
Earlier versions of this review noted no public pricing. That has changed, Zite now publishes plans, all in US dollars. Re-checked on 26 August 2026: the headline prices are unchanged since July, and the storage and workflow allowances below are new detail rather than a correction.
| Plan | Price | AI credits/mo | Database records | Storage | Workflow runs/mo | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 | 5,000 | 1GB | 1,000 | Unlimited users and apps, 1 brand kit |
| Pro | $15/month, $182 annually | 100+ | 100,000 | 10GB | 5,000 | 1 custom domain, removes Zite branding |
| Business | $55/month, $662 annually | 200+ | 250,000 | 100GB | 50,000 | Unlimited custom domains, advanced AI models, white-label emails, AI training opt-out by default |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Priority support, advanced security, per-member spend caps |
The genuinely unusual part is that every plan, including free, allows unlimited users. Most rivals in this category meter seats, which is exactly where internal tools get expensive.
The catch: AI credits
Zite meters the AI building work in credits, and this is the recurring complaint in user discussions: chatting with the builder and planning consume the same credits as generating the app, allocations can disappear quickly during heavy building, and estimating how many credits a project needs is hard. Treat the monthly plan price as the floor, not the ceiling, and build in focused sessions rather than long exploratory chats.
That is the complaint. Here is the arithmetic, which almost nobody writing about Zite bothers to do.
Zite publishes what each kind of change costs. Checked 26 August 2026:
| What you ask for | Credits |
|---|---|
| Simple visual change, colour or spacing | 0.5 to 0.7 |
| Moving an element | 0.6 to 1.0 |
| Navigation change | 1.0 to 1.5 |
| A new page | 1.5 to 2.25 |
| Creating a database | 2.0 to 3.0 |
| Adding user logins | 2.5 to 3.5 |
So price a realistic first build. A database, logins, five pages and twenty small adjustments once you see it working comes to roughly 22 to 32 credits. The free tier gives you 50 a month.
That is the finding worth carrying away: the free plan is enough to build one real internal tool and then revise it, and you can establish whether the thing is any use to you before a card is involved. It is not a teaser. It is a working month.
Two conditions on that. Unused credits do not roll over, they reset on your subscription date, so a month you do not use is a month you have lost. And planning conversations with the builder draw on the same balance as the building, which is why the reports of credits vanishing tend to come from people who chatted their way through a design rather than arriving with one.
Turn up knowing what you want. Build in focused sessions. The meter is generous to people who have thought first, which is a fairly Whito way for a pricing model to behave.
Fifty free credits a month, which our arithmetic above puts at roughly one full internal tool.

The UK questions nobody else asks
Zite is an American product and most of what is written about it is written for American readers. Four things change the answer if you are running a business here.
Where your data actually sits
Zite’s security documentation states that its servers are in the United States and the European Union, and that EU servers are used only if the customer requests it. Read that carefully. The default is US hosting, and EU hosting is something you have to ask for.
For a job tracker holding your own scheduling notes, few people will care. For an app holding customer names, addresses and payment history, it is a question to settle before you load real records rather than after, and the route is Zite’s security contact. We have not tested what the process involves or whether it is available on lower tiers, so treat this as the question to ask, not as an answer.
The bill is in dollars
Pro is $15 a month, or $182 paid annually. Business is $55 a month, or $662 annually. Your card issuer’s non-sterling transaction fee applies on top, and the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate, so the number in your accounts will not be the number on the pricing page.
Budget in pounds with headroom rather than converting today’s rate and treating it as fixed.
No per-seat fee, but there are two meters
Unlimited users is real and it is the best thing about the pricing. It does not mean unmetered. AI credits meter the building, and workflow runs meter the automation. Neither is tight for a small firm, but a tool with no meters at all is not what is on offer.
It is a young product
Zite launched in April 2025 on an established company’s infrastructure, and the company renamed itself around it in March 2026. That is a strong position for a young product and it is still a young product. Documentation is thinner than the established players and the template library is smaller.
Which leads to the rule we would apply to any tool this age, and it has nothing to do with Zite specifically: be certain you can get your data out before you put anything business-critical in. Ask about the export route on the free tier, while the answer costs you nothing.
How it compares
Against code-generating tools like Lovable and Bolt, Zite is fully managed: no hosting to arrange, no generated codebase to debug, and the logic stays editable by non-developers. Against database-app builders like Glide and Softr, Zite leads with AI generation and flat pricing, where those platforms typically charge per user. The trade-off in both directions is maturity, Zite is barely a year old, with thinner documentation and a smaller template library than the established players.
The free tier costs nothing to test, and it is the only sensible place to start.
