Removals and Storage Marketing Guide UK 2026
A national platform can undercut you on the quote. It cannot turn up with a van and a person the customer trusts. The site has to make that difference visible.
Finding
Of 64 UK tradespeople found by ordinary search across eight cities and checked against Companies House, 45, or 70%, were a verifiable active company and 19, or 30%, could not be verified, including two trading under a dissolved company, in Whito’s July 2026 study.

Start, Build, Scale
The right order for removal firms
Do the stages in order. Nothing in Build works while Start is missing.
Start, Build, Scale for removal firms: the free foundations first, then systems and proof, then measurement. The three stages are listed in full in this figure.
Start
- Company number in text
- BAR membership named if held
- Insurance cover stated with the figure
Build
- One page per move type with a price-from
- Photos of your own vans and crews
- Reviews within a week of each move
Scale
- Track cost per job won by source
- Estate agent referrals
- Cut the platform that costs most per job
What we know, and what we have not measured yet
Whito has not yet run a removals-specific engine study. The figures above come from Whito’s cross-industry research and hold for any service business that turns up at someone’s house: a share of the firms people find cannot be verified as companies, most sites publish no price, and the engines cite your own website first.
What we have published for the sector is a scored comparison of the five biggest UK removals and storage brands, below, including the platform model.
When the removals study runs, it will appear on this page first, dated.
Moving freight for businesses rather than households is a different job with a different buyer. That has its own page: transport and logistics.
Three things that cost you visibility
No company number on the site
Removals has no statutory register, so Companies House is the whole check. A missing number reads as a man with a van, whatever the fleet looks like.
Price hidden behind a survey
A price-from figure for the common jobs, in writing, wins the enquiry against the platform quote that arrives with four other movers attached.
Insurance as a claim, not a fact
Goods in transit cover with the figure stated, in text, is worth more than a paragraph about being careful.
Where to start
In order. Structure before scale.
Start: be findable and real
Company number, depot address and phone in text. BAR membership if you hold it, in words. Insurance cover stated with the figure.
Build: give machines something to read
MovingCompany schema, one page per service and per area, price-from figures, the crew named with photos you own.
Scale: build the evidence layer
Systematic review requests after every move, a monthly check of what the engines say about removals in your area, and the area pages kept current.

The register that matters
Companies House, and BAR if you are a member
No statutory register for removals. The company number is the check, so it goes on every page in text.
