Pest control mixes one-off callouts, paid on the day, with contract customers paying monthly. The account has to handle both without charging for every payment received.

We priced a standard year at 15 UK business accounts on 1 October 2026 for a pest control business with 35 payments in a month (one-off jobs and contracts) and £300 in cash. For our model pest control business, a standard year of banking cost £24 at Monzo Business Lite and £397.20 at NatWest Standard Tariff.

The accounts that suit pest control businesses

  • Monzo Business Lite, £24 a year. No charge for 35 payments in; £1 a cash deposit.
  • Virgin Money M Account, £32.40 a year. No monthly fee, free electronic payments and a branch. For turnover under £1m.
  • Co-operative Bank Business Bank Account, £54 a year. No monthly fee and free electronic payments, with a branch bank behind it.

For commercial contracts paid by invoice, any of the top three works: in our model they were Monzo Business Lite £24, Virgin Money M Account £32.40 and Co-operative Bank Business Bank Account £54 a year.

What matters for pest control businesses beyond the fee

Contract customers

Monthly contracts paid by Direct Debit or standing order arrive as payments in. On accounts that charge for incoming payments (Tide Free after five, Countingup after three, NatWest at 35p) a contract book costs more to bank.

Callouts paid on the day

A card reader or payment link reduces cash and late payment. Our payment processors compared page prices the card side.

Insurance and accreditation

Commercial customers often ask for proof of insurance and BPCA or similar membership. Keep the name on your account and invoices the same as on those records.

Before you open

  • Separate contract income from one-off jobs when you count a month.
  • Check how Direct Debit collection works if you plan to collect contracts that way.
  • Price your own month: count a month of payments in, payments out, Direct Debits and cash, then use the fees on our best business bank accounts UK page.
  • Check protection: who holds the money and whether it shares an FSCS limit. See FSCS protection on business accounts.

More for pest control businesses: the pest control hub and pest control software and tools. Every trade we priced: business banking by trade.

A contract book is income you receive every month, so do not choose an account that charges you to receive it.

Questions

What is the best business bank account for pest control businesses?

In our model of a pest control business with contract customers, priced from published fees on 1 October 2026, the cheapest standard year was Monzo Business Lite at £24, then Virgin Money M Account at £32.40 and Co-operative Bank Business Bank Account at £54. The cheapest high street bank was Virgin Money M Account at £32.40. Your own mix of payments and cash decides the answer.

Do pest control businesses pay bank charges on contract payments?

It depends on the account. Monzo, Starling, Mettle and most high street accounts we read charged nothing for receiving electronic payments; NatWest’s Standard Tariff charges 35p per payment in, and Tide’s free plan 20p after five a month.
