The General Dental Council’s public list of dentists and dental care professionals allowed to work in the UK. It registers people, not practices. Asked for a trustworthy dentist on 27 September 2026, one AI answer in 18 pointed to it.
The number: AI dentist recommendations vs the GDC register.
What it means in practice
The mistake is choosing a dentist on star ratings alone. Every engine we tested leaned on map ratings and review counts, which say nothing about whether a clinician is registered.
The move is to search the clinician’s name on the GDC register. A practice name will not find them, because the register lists people. It is free and takes a minute.
Whito stage: Any stage. Check the clinician, not just the practice, before treatment.
