Checked against Companies House on 7 September 2026: both HubSpot and Pipedrive sell to UK businesses through active UK-registered companies with accounts on file. The register also holds two unconnected companies trading on HubSpot’s name, and HubSpot’s real price cliff sits at £1,139 a month.

A feature grid will not tell you the two things that decide whether the relationship goes wrong: what the price becomes when you outgrow the entry tier, and which legal entity you would be dealing with if it did. Both sit on public record, so we checked, with dates.

Key facts

Key takeaways

  • Both pass the who-you-sue test. A UK customer contracts with HubSpot UK Holdings Limited (Companies House 11717417) or Pipedrive UK Limited (10772608). Both companies are active and both filed accounts to 31 December 2024. Of the six tools in our comparison series, these two CRMs are the only ones that give a UK business a UK counterparty.
  • Pipedrive’s ladder is flat: £14 to £79 per seat per month. Four tiers, per seat, billed annually. You can see your worst-case price on day one.
  • HubSpot’s ladder has a cliff. Free for 2 users, Starter from £7 per seat per month on the current new-customer offer. Above that, the Professional bundle starts at £1,139 a month including 6 seats, and Sales Hub Professional on its own is £77 a seat a month plus a compulsory one-off onboarding fee of £1,310. The step between tier two and tier three is more than twelve times a five-seat Starter bill at the regular £18 rate.
  • The register carries lookalikes. Two active UK companies are registered under HubSpot’s name with no connection to HubSpot, Inc. on their filings, one of them incorporated two days before our check.

The who-you-sue test

Before you compare features, ask a simpler question: if this went to a dispute, which legal entity would be on the other side of it, and can you read that entity’s filings on a register you trust? We call this the who-you-sue test. It takes ten minutes on Companies House.

Verdict: both pass. That settles little between the two of them, because it is the rest of the field they beat. Four of the six tools in this comparison series contract with UK customers from Delaware, Georgia, Dublin or Singapore. The two CRMs are the only UK counterparties in the set.

The lookalike problem. Search “HubSpot” on Companies House and the exact-name match, HUBSPOT LTD (16603421, incorporated July 2025), is controlled by a private individual whose filings show no connection to HubSpot, Inc. A second company, HUBSPOT IRELAND LIMITED (17440265), was incorporated in Bradford on 5 September 2026, two days before our check. Neither is the company you would be contracting with. If you run the who-you-sue test yourself, match the company number, not the name.

What they cost a UK business

Prices read from each vendor’s own UK pricing page on 7 September 2026. Both vendors publish GBP prices. Annual-billing rates shown; VAT excluded. Prices change, so treat these as the shape of each ladder, then confirm the current figure before you buy.

Sales Hub Professional on its own is £77/seat/month, plus a compulsory one-off onboarding fee, £1,310 at Professional and £3,050 at Enterprise, read from HubSpot’s sales pricing page the same dayUltimate: £79/seat/month

Five people on Pipedrive Ultimate, the most expensive plan it publishes, is £395 a month. Five people who outgrow HubSpot Starter face a jump to £1,139 a month, because Professional is priced as a six-seat bundle. A feature grid will not show you that.

HubSpot’s step from Starter to Professional multiplies a five-seat bill more than twelvefold at the regular £18 rate. Pipedrive’s biggest single step is £20 per seat.

Which one fits, by stage

Start (getting your first system in place): HubSpot Free costs nothing, covers the contact and pipeline basics properly, and is the sensible default for two founders. If you never intend to buy the marketing suite, Pipedrive Lite at £14 is the cheapest paid seat here and does the pipeline job properly.

Build (a sales team of 3–10, repeatable process): this is Pipedrive’s home ground. Growth or Premium gives you automation and reporting at a per-seat price you can forecast. Choose HubSpot at this stage only if you will use marketing, service and content tools in one system, and price the Professional cliff in before you commit rather than when you hit it.

Scale (10+ seats, marketing and sales on one dataset): the calculation flips. At the point where you would be paying for a CRM plus a separate marketing platform plus integration work, HubSpot Professional’s bundle price starts to be an honest comparison, and its UK entity, filing accounts since 2018, is as checkable as Pipedrive’s.

What we will not do is hand either of them a “best CRM” badge. Which tool wins depends on which bill shape your business can survive. For the wider field, see our UK CRM guide.

What this comparison did not do

  • We did not run the two products side by side, and we make no hands-on usability claims.
  • We did not test data-migration quality between the two, which is where switching costs live.
  • Every fact above is read from the public record or the vendors’ own published pages, on the dates shown. Where a price is promotional (HubSpot’s Starter offer), we have said so.

A comparison is only worth reading if it says what it could not check. How Whito works sets out the rest of the method.
