Pharmacy marketing is unusual: the biggest threat is not a competitor but stale data, old addresses, dead numbers and sold branches still circulating under your name or stealing your searches. So the stage order starts with janitorial work no agency will sell you. Start, then Build, then Scale, and nothing in Build works while Start is missing.

Start: one identity, everywhere, current

Your GPhC premises entry, website, Google Business Profile and NHS listing carrying the same name, address format and hours, audited against each other. Search yourself the way a patient would and log every stale fact you find, then fix the records you control and correct the ones you do not. A pharmacy whose records all agree is rare enough that engines treat it as the trustworthy answer more or less by default.

Build: a page per service, with price and route

Scripts bring footfall, services bring margin, and every service is its own search: flu jab, travel vaccinations, blood pressure check, Pharmacy First consultations, earwax removal where you offer it. One page each, with the price, who it suits, and how to book or walk in. Generic “services we offer” lists win nothing; a page with a price and today’s availability wins the person searching at lunch.

Build: reviews that name the service

Ask at the counter after a service appointment, not a script collection, and ask the patient to name the service: “flu jab, booked same morning, five minutes” recruits the next flu jab directly. Respond to every review, especially the stale-information complaints, because your responses are themselves fresh data about an open, attentive pharmacy.

Scale: measure the services, defend the record

Track service bookings by source and double down on the pages that convert. Put a quarterly recurrence on the records audit, since every rebrand and ownership change in the trade reintroduces drift. Growth in pharmacy is unglamorous: current records, priced services, named reviews, repeated.

What not to do

Do not market medicines; market services and availability, and keep every clinical claim inside what your regulator allows. Do not let a defunct branch’s records linger because removal is tedious; they decay into other people’s wrong answers. And do not buy advertising before the Start stage is done, since ads pointing at inconsistent records pay for confusion.
