Rush Hair scores highest of the ten UK hairdresser and barber brands compared, at 6.7 out of 10 on the Whito leaderboard.
Opinion and analysis. Whito read every brand below by hand on 22 October 2026, using publicly visible activity only, against fixed anchors and ten UK searches. Each channel is scored 0 to 10, set out under How we scored, so a score describes what we could see on the day, not the quality of the haircut. Brands cannot pay to appear or to change a score. Where a figure is not published, we say so.
You don’t need to outspend the big salon chains. You need to out-structure them. Every brand on this board lets you book online, so booking no longer separates anyone. Reviews do: nine of the ten hold 3.8 or less on Trustpilot or have no rating at all.
Rush Hair scores 6.7, ahead of TONI&GUY on 6.0 and Francesco Group on 5.9. Rush is the only brand here rated above 4, and one of only two to appear in our local searches.
BarberBarber and HOB Salons share the lowest score, 4.0. BarberBarber’s Trustpilot profile has no reviews, and HOB Salons holds 2.6 from 35 reviews and showed no Google or Meta ads. Search belongs to booking platforms: across 10 UK searches, the salon brands appeared three times in all.

Company verdicts
Rush Hair, 6.7
Rush Hair scores 6.7, the highest of the ten. Reviews score 7, the best on the board, from 4.4 on 3,241 Trustpilot reviews with replies to 15 of the latest 20. Email scores 7 for a newsletter with a quarterly £200 voucher draw and Rush Rewards, which gives a point for every £1 spent. Its website scores 10 for online booking with a page per salon. SEO scores 5: rush.co.uk appeared for ‘hairdressers Manchester’, and its blog adds a point. Paid scores 10 with about 700 Google ads in 30 days, the most here, and 51 Meta ads. Social scores 4 for three platforms.
TONI&GUY, 6.0
TONI&GUY scores 6.0, second on the board. Its website scores 10, combining salon booking with an online shop priced on the page, and email scores 7 for a newsletter, account and rewards scheme. Brand scores 4 for one name everywhere and a clear line, ‘Where heritage meets the future of hair’. Reviews are the weak spot at 4: Trustpilot shows 3.8 from 2,153 reviews, with no replies on the latest 20. Paid scores 8 with about 200 Google ads and 3 Meta ads, all from its Banbury salon page. toniandguy.com appeared in none of 10 UK searches.
Francesco Group, 5.9
Francesco Group scores 5.9, third on the board. Email scores 7 for a newsletter, an app and a customer login, and its website 10 for a booking page covering every salon. Paid scores 8 with 15 Google ads on its new domain, francescohair.salon, and 5 Meta ads from its salon and academy pages. Reviews score 3 from 3.5 on 29 Trustpilot reviews, still filed under the old francescogroup.co.uk address, with replies to 3 of the latest 20. Brand scores 4: its blog names award-winning stylists, but the business appears as both Francesco Group and Francesco Hair Salon, which costs it the name point.
Regis, 5.7
Regis scores 5.7. Social scores 6 with six platforms linked, the most on the board. Email scores 7 for a subscribe option, a customer login and Regis Rewards, and its website 10 for an online booking portal and a priced product shop. Paid scores 8 with 16 Google ads and 4 Meta ads. Reviews score 2: Trustpilot shows 2.7 from 104 reviews, with no replies on the latest 20. regissalons.co.uk appeared in none of 10 UK searches.
Saks, 5.6
Saks scores 5.6. Email scores 8, the highest on the board, for a sign-up, a Saks app and a loyalty scheme. Brand scores 6, the joint highest, for one name, the line ‘adding the wow-factor since 1974’ and named stylists on its blog. Its website scores 10 for online booking. Two channels hold it back. No Google ads were found in 30 days and its page ran 5 Meta ads, so paid scores 4, and reviews score 2 from 2.8 on 49 Trustpilot reviews, with replies to 5 of the latest 20.
Headmasters, 5.4
Headmasters scores 5.4. Its website scores 10 for online booking and a published price list, and social 6 for four platforms. Paid scores 10 with 67 Google ads and 12 Meta ads. Reviews score 4 from 3.3 on 788 Trustpilot reviews; replies to 12 of the latest 20 lift the score, but the rating holds it down. Email scores 2 for a sign-up form only, and SEO 2: headmasters.com appeared in none of 10 UK searches and its content sits on a news page.
Supercuts, 5.0
Supercuts scores 5.0. It shows haircut prices on the homepage, from £26 and treatments from £4, with a full price list and online booking, so its website scores 10. Social scores 6 for five platforms. Paid scores 6 with 6 Google ads and 4 Meta ads. Reviews score 2: Trustpilot shows 2.6 from 389 reviews, with no replies on the latest 20. Email scores 4 for a subscribe option and login.
Trevor Sorbie, 4.7
Trevor Sorbie scores 4.7. It is the strongest brand here in search: trevorsorbie.com appeared for ‘hairdressers Manchester’ and ‘hairdressers Bristol’, and a blog adds a point, so SEO scores 5. Brand scores 6 for one name, a clear line and a named founder and art team. Its website scores 10 for online booking. Two channels score 0: no email capture was visible, and no Trustpilot profile was found. Paid scores 8 with 10 Google ads and 4 Meta ads.
BarberBarber, 4.0
BarberBarber scores 4.0, level lowest with HOB Salons. Its website scores 10, with online booking for each barbershop through Square and a gift card shop. Paid scores 6 with 40 Google ads and no Meta ads found. Brand scores 4 for one name and a clear line, ‘Barber Made Barber Grade’. Reviews score 0 because its Trustpilot profile has no reviews, and SEO 2 because barberbarber.com appeared in none of 10 UK searches and no advice content was found. Email scores 2 for a sign-up form.
HOB Salons, 4.0
HOB Salons scores 4.0, level lowest with BarberBarber. Social scores 6 for five platforms and its website 10 for online booking and a downloadable price list. Brand scores 4, with award-nominated stylists named on its blog. Paid scores 2, as no Google or Meta ads were found. Reviews score 1 from 2.6 on 35 Trustpilot reviews, with no replies on the latest 20. hobsalons.com appeared in none of 10 UK searches.
What the channels show
Online booking is now standard
All ten brands let you book online, so all ten score 10 on website. Supercuts goes further and shows haircut prices on its homepage. Booking has stopped being a reason to choose one chain over another; what a client reads before booking has not.
Reviews are the gap
Rush Hair holds 4.4 from 3,241 Trustpilot reviews and replies to 15 of its latest 20. All nine others hold 3.8 or less or have no rating at all, and BarberBarber’s profile has no reviews. In a trade where the first visit is a leap of faith, this is the channel that most separates the brands.
Booking platforms own local search
Across 10 UK searches, from ‘hairdresser near me open now UK’ to ‘hairdressers Leeds’, the salon brands appeared three times: Rush Hair once and Trevor Sorbie twice. Treatwell, Fresha, Booksy and press round-ups held the rest. A salon page with your town, your prices and your stylists competes on those terms.
Loyalty schemes lift email
Saks scores 8 for its app and loyalty scheme, and Rush Hair, Regis, TONI&GUY and Francesco 7 each for pairing a sign-up with rewards or an app. Trevor Sorbie, with the best search result here, shows no email capture at all.
Key lessons for any hairdresser or barber
Ask for the review before the client leaves
Rush Hair’s 3,241 reviews at 4.4 sit beside chains on 2.6 to 3.8. A request sent the same day, with a direct link, is a habit, not a budget.
Reply to recent reviews
Rush Hair replies to 15 of its latest 20 and Headmasters to 12. TONI&GUY, Supercuts, Regis and HOB Salons reply to none of theirs. A short reply in your own words shows the next client how you treat people.
Show your prices
Supercuts puts ‘haircuts from £26’ on its homepage. Most chains keep prices behind the booking flow. A clear starting price answers the first question a new client has.
Give regulars a reason to stay in touch
Rush Rewards gives a point for every £1, and Saks pairs an app with a loyalty scheme. A simple stamp card or rebooking reminder does the same job for a single salon.
Build a page for your town
Trevor Sorbie appeared for Manchester and Bristol; most chains appeared for nothing. One page per salon, with the town, the team and the prices, is how a local salon gets found.
Steal this playbook
Five moves from this leaderboard, ranked by return on effort.
- Send a review link the same day as every appointment. Rush Hair’s 3,241 reviews at 4.4 earn the top review score of 7.
- Reply to your latest 20 reviews. Rush Hair answers 15 of its latest 20; four chains here answer none.
- Put a starting price on your homepage. Supercuts shows haircuts from £26 before anyone clicks.
- Write one page per salon town. The ten brands appeared only three times across 10 UK searches.
- Add a loyalty reward to your sign-up. Saks scores 8 for its app and loyalty scheme; brands with a bare form score 2.
The evidence behind the scores

How we scored
Who is on the board. Ten UK hairdresser and barber brands a client is likely to meet when booking a cut: TONI&GUY (fashion-led salon franchise with its own haircare and education arm), Rush Hair (national salon group with online booking and a rewards scheme), Headmasters (salon chain in London and the South East), BarberBarber (premium barbershop group with its own grooming products), HOB Salons (London creative salon group), Saks (national hair and beauty salon group dating to 1974), Supercuts (affordable walk-in hairdressers), Regis (international salon brand with UK salons), Trevor Sorbie (multi-award-winning salon group) and Francesco Group (salon group across the Midlands and the South, now trading as Francesco Hair Salon). Chosen for relevance and size, not marketing strength.
When we looked. All ten brands were read on 22 October 2026, against the fixed anchors below, with the ten searches run on the same day. This board was first published with scores relative to the other brands on it. On 22 October 2026 it was rescored on Whito’s fixed anchors and expanded to ten brands, so scores are not comparable with the earlier edition.
- Social: which platforms the brand links to from its own site, and whether we could see recent posting and video.
- Website: 2 for a brochure page, 4 with a contact route on mobile, 6 with a page per service and a one-step enquiry, 8 with prices or ranges and registration numbers shown, 10 with online booking, an online checkout or an instant priced quote.
- Email: visible capture only, as we did not subscribe test inboxes for this edition. 2 for a bare newsletter form, 4 for a customer account, 6 for an app or a loyalty scheme, 7 for a newsletter plus an app or loyalty scheme, up to 10 for a loyalty or app ecosystem with personal offers.
- SEO: ten UK searches for this sector, run through a standard web search API on 22 October 2026 (not personalised, no location set beyond the town in the query); we counted how many returned the brand’s own site in the top ten results. 0 of 10 scores 2, 1 to 2 scores 4, 3 to 4 scores 6, 5 to 6 scores 8, 7 or more scores 10, plus 1 for a substantial advice library. The searches: hairdresser near me open now UK; how much is a haircut UK; balayage cost UK; book hair appointment online UK salon; barber near me UK; hairdressers London; hairdressers Manchester; hairdressers Birmingham; hairdressers Leeds; hairdressers Bristol.
- Paid: the Google Ads Transparency Centre (UK, last 30 days, by domain) and the Meta Ad Library (UK, active ads, counted by the advertiser page). 2 for nothing found in either, 4 for active in one with fewer than 10 ads, 6 for active in both or 10+ in one, 8 for active in both with 10+ in at least one, 10 for 50+ Google ads and 10+ Meta ads. Meta Ad Library counts were read on 23 October 2026, after the library was unavailable on 22 October. Paid describes visible activity, not quality. A low paid score is not a fault.
- Reviews: a fixed formula. Rating (4.7+ scores 4, 4.5 to 4.69 scores 3, 4.0 to 4.49 scores 2, 3.5 to 3.99 scores 1) plus volume (10,000+ scores 4, 1,000+ scores 3, 100+ scores 2, 20+ scores 1) plus replies to the latest 20 reviews (half or more scores 2, some scores 1). Where Trustpilot sends a brand’s address to a parent company profile, we used that profile and say so.
- Brand: five checks worth 2 each: the same name and logo everywhere, one clear positioning line, a distinctive asset used for years, three or more independent press mentions in 90 days, and named people or expertise on the site. We award only what we could verify on the day; three recent press mentions were not confirmed for any brand.
These anchors are fixed for this edition, so the ten scores can be read against each other. Boards published before October 2026 used scores relative to the other brands on the board, so compare across boards with care.
Common questions
Which hairdresser or barber brand scores highest on the Whito leaderboard?
Rush Hair scores highest at 6.7 out of 10, ahead of TONI&GUY on 6.0 and Francesco Group on 5.9. Rush Hair holds 4.4 from 3,241 Trustpilot reviews with replies to 15 of the latest 20, runs Rush Rewards, takes bookings online and appeared for ‘hairdressers Manchester’.
Which brands score lowest, and why?
BarberBarber and HOB Salons both score 4.0. BarberBarber’s Trustpilot profile has no reviews and its site appeared in none of 10 UK searches. HOB Salons holds 2.6 from 35 Trustpilot reviews with no replies on the latest 20, and no Google or Meta ads were found for it.
How do these salon brands compare on reviews?
Ratings run from 2.6 for Supercuts and HOB Salons to 4.4 for Rush Hair. Rush Hair has the most reviews, 3,241, followed by TONI&GUY on 2,153. Rush Hair replies to 15 of its latest 20 and Headmasters to 12. BarberBarber has a profile with no reviews, and no Trustpilot profile was found for Trevor Sorbie.
What can a local salon or barbershop copy from these brands?
Ask every client for a review the same day and reply to the latest ones. Put a starting price on your homepage, as Supercuts does. Add a reward to your email sign-up. Build a page for each town you work in, since the ten brands appeared only three times across 10 UK searches.
Which salon brands advertise most?
Rush Hair ran about 700 Google ads in 30 days and 51 active Meta ads, and Headmasters 67 and 12, so both score 10 for paid. HOB Salons showed no ads in either. Google was read on 22 October and Meta on 23 October 2026, after the library was unavailable on 22 October. Paid describes visible activity, not quality.
