Housekeep scores highest of the ten UK cleaning brands compared, at 6.7 out of 10 on the Whito leaderboard.

Opinion and analysis. Whito read every brand below by hand on 22 October 2026, using publicly visible activity only, against fixed anchors and the same ten UK searches. Each channel is scored 0 to 10, set out under How we scored, so a score describes what we could see on the day, not the quality of the service. Brands cannot pay to appear or to change a score. Where a figure is not published, we say so.

Many cleaning businesses assume the job is won on price per hour. On this board, the two leaders are the only brands that let you book online and also show up in search. None of the ten shows an hourly rate on its homepage, and seven of the ten appeared in none of 10 UK searches.

Housekeep scores 6.7, ahead of Fantastic Services on 6.3 and Ovenclean on 5.4. Housekeep and Fantastic Services both take bookings online and both publish cost guides that appeared in our searches for ‘cleaner cost per hour UK’ and ‘end of tenancy cleaning cost’.

Merry Maids scores lowest at 3.6. It shows no prices, links three social profiles, and its Trustpilot profile has 11 reviews at 3.0. It appeared in none of 10 UK searches.

Paid scores 10 on about 500 Google ads and 17 active Meta ads from its franchise page. Its website scores 6 for a postcode search that leads to an enquiry, with no prices shown. Email scores 0: the only login is for franchisees. A tips and advice section adds an SEO point, though timeforyou.cleaning appeared in none of 10 UK searches.

What the channels show

Online booking separates the top

Three brands take bookings online: Housekeep, Fantastic Services and Daily Poppins, all scoring 10 on website. The other seven run on an enquiry form, a quote request or a free home visit, and score 6. Molly Maid, Merry Maids and Ovenclean each have a pricing or price guide page that shows no price.

Search goes to the cost guides

Only three brands appeared in any of 10 UK searches. Fantastic Services appeared in 4 and Housekeep in 3, mostly through cost guides for searches such as ‘cleaner cost per hour UK’ and ‘end of tenancy cleaning cost’. Molly Maid appeared twice. The searches for ‘house cleaner near me’ and cleaners in Birmingham and Bristol went to directories, job sites and quote platforms.

Strong reviews, few replies

Ovenclean holds 4.9 from 16,386 Trustpilot reviews and replies to 14 of its latest 20. Time For You replies to 13 and Daily Poppins to 12. Fantastic Services, Molly Maid and Housekeep, with over 75,000 reviews between them, reply to just 1 of their latest 60 between them.

Email is mostly missing

Five of the ten capture no email on the homepage. Housekeep scores 6 for its app and login, and Daily Poppins 4 for a customer login. For a service most households book every week or fortnight, few brands give customers a reason to stay in touch beyond the booking itself.

Key lessons for any cleaning business

Show a price or a range

Three brands here have a pricing page with no price on it. A clear hourly rate or a range for a regular clean answers the first question a customer has, and the cost guides that explain prices are what appeared most in search.

Write the cost guide for your area

Cost guides from Fantastic Services and Housekeep made 4 of the 9 search appearances by brands on this board. A local firm can write the same page for its own town, with its own rates.

Reply to every review

Ovenclean replies to 14 of its latest 20 and scores 10 on reviews. Replying is the one review habit that costs nothing but time.

Let regular customers manage their clean online

Housekeep and Daily Poppins let customers log in to change bookings. For a weekly service, that keeps the customer with you and gives you a reason to collect an email address.

Steal this playbook

Five moves from this leaderboard, ranked by return on effort.

  1. Reply to every review you have. Ovenclean replies to 14 of its latest 20 and scores 10 on reviews.
  2. Put your hourly rate on your pricing page. Three brands here have a pricing page that shows no price.
  3. Write a cost guide for your town. Cost guides made 4 of the 9 search appearances by brands on this board.
  4. Offer online booking for regular cleans. The three brands that take bookings online all score 10 on website.
  5. Collect an email address from every customer. Five of the ten capture none on their homepage.

How we scored

Who is on the board. Ten UK brands a household is likely to meet when booking a cleaner: Fantastic Services (national home services company with online booking), Molly Maid (national domestic cleaning franchise), Housekeep (online cleaning platform with vetted local cleaners), Daily Poppins (domestic and commercial cleaning franchise), Merry Maids (domestic cleaning franchise), Maid2Clean (national domestic cleaning agency), Time For You (domestic cleaning franchise network), Poppies (domestic cleaning franchise), Ovenclean (national oven cleaning franchise) and MyHome (London domestic and commercial cleaning firm). Chosen for relevance and size, not marketing strength.

This board was first published with scores relative to the other brands on it. On 22 October 2026 it was rescored on Whito’s fixed anchors and expanded to ten brands, so scores are not comparable with the earlier edition.

When we looked. All ten brands were read on 22 October 2026, with the ten searches below run once on that date. Meta Ad Library counts were read on 23 October 2026, after the library was unavailable on 22 October.

  • Social: which platforms the brand links to from its own site, and whether we could see recent posting and video.
  • Website: 2 for a brochure page, 4 with a contact route on mobile, 6 with a page per service and a one-step enquiry, 8 with prices or ranges and registration numbers shown, 10 with online booking or an instant priced quote.
  • Email: visible capture only, as we did not subscribe test inboxes for this edition. 2 for a bare newsletter form, up to 10 for a loyalty or app ecosystem with personal offers.
  • SEO: ten UK searches for this trade, run through a standard web search API on 22 October 2026 (not personalised, no location set beyond the town in the query); we counted how many returned the brand’s own site in the top ten results. 0 of 10 scores 2, 1 to 2 scores 4, 3 to 4 scores 6, 5 to 6 scores 8, 7 or more scores 10, plus 1 for a substantial advice library. The searches: house cleaner near me; cleaner cost per hour UK; end of tenancy cleaning cost; domestic cleaning services; one-off deep clean house; cleaners London; cleaners Manchester; cleaners Birmingham; cleaners Leeds; cleaners Bristol.
  • Paid: the Google Ads Transparency Centre (UK, last 30 days, by domain) and the Meta Ad Library (UK, active ads whose text names the brand, counted by the advertiser page). 2 for nothing found in either, 4 for active in one with fewer than 10 ads, 6 for active in both or 10+ in one, 8 for active in both with 10+ in at least one, 10 for 50+ Google ads and 10+ Meta ads. Paid describes visible activity, not quality. A low paid score is not a fault.
  • Reviews: a fixed formula. Rating (4.7+ scores 4, 4.5 to 4.69 scores 3, 4.0 to 4.49 scores 2, 3.5 to 3.99 scores 1) plus volume (10,000+ scores 4, 1,000+ scores 3, 100+ scores 2, 20+ scores 1) plus replies to the latest 20 reviews (half or more scores 2, some scores 1).
  • Brand: five checks worth 2 each: the same name and logo everywhere, one clear positioning line, a distinctive asset used for years, three or more independent press mentions in 90 days, and named people or expertise on the site.

These anchors are fixed for this edition, so the ten scores can be read against each other. Boards published before October 2026 used scores relative to the other brands on the board, so compare across boards with care.
