Find a UK business you can check

Every listing is built from public information, checked at Companies House where the business is registered, and structured so the AI assistants people now ask first can read it. No sign-up, no lead forms. Just the businesses.

What do you need?

Search by trade or business type, and where you are. Every listing shows what we could confirm, and says so when we could not.

The Whito checks

What we look at before a business appears, and what “Verified” actually means.

Companies House recordWhere we can confirm the registered company, the profile shows its legal name and company number. Where we cannot, it says so.
Registration schemesNICEIC, NAPIT, Gas Safe, ICAEW, GDC and other registers you can check yourself. We show what is claimed and where it is confirmed.
Years tradingIncorporation dates from the public record, plus the firm’s own stated history, clearly separated.
No reviews, no starsWe do not host reviews or invent ratings. We show what we can check, and the date we checked it.
Ranking disclosure: Verified businesses appear first, then listings run alphabetically. Nobody can pay to appear or to move. If a business asks to be removed, it comes off.

Built for AI search

More people ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google a question before they ever see a results page. Every Whito listing is published with structured data, verified key facts and plain FAQs, so AI assistants can read it and cite it. Our own research found that two of three AI engines picked the same best local tradesperson just 8% of the time, and all three never agreed. A clear, checkable listing is something every engine can read.

Common questions

How are businesses ordered on Whito?

Verified businesses, which have claimed their listing and confirmed their details, appear first. Then listings are ordered alphabetically. Companies House records, registration schemes and years trading are shown on each profile so you can compare them yourself. Reviews and star ratings play no part. Position is never for sale.

Do businesses pay to appear here?

No. Listing is free and most businesses are added from public information before they have done anything. There is no paid listing tier and no paid profile feature, and paying cannot change where a business appears. You can read exactly how we make money on our How we make money page.

Are these businesses vetted?

Listings marked “Unclaimed” come from public information and have not been independently checked, though where we could confirm a firm at Companies House its profile says so. When a business claims its listing we confirm its details and a working contact, and mark it “Verified”. We never publish invented reviews or star ratings.

How do I get my business listed?

Use the List your business page. A basic listing is free: we confirm your details and a working contact, then publish your profile with the structured data AI assistants can read.

What does “built for AI search” mean?

Every listing is published with schema.org structured data, verified key facts and plain-English FAQs, and the site publishes an llms.txt index. That makes listings readable and citeable by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, which more people now ask before they search.
