iHeat scores highest of the five UK boiler repair and installation brands compared, at 7.7 out of 10 on the Whito leaderboard.

Opinion and analysis. Whito read every brand below by hand on 12 October 2026, using publicly visible activity only. Each channel is scored 0 to 10 against fixed anchors, set out under How we scored, so a score describes what we could see on the day, not the quality of the service. Brands cannot pay to appear or to change a score. Where a figure is not published, we say so.

The boiler trade runs on trust, and most firms show it with a logo. iHeat, top of this board at 7.7, shows it with numbers instead: its Gas Safe number, its boiler prices and the names of its managers, all on the homepage.

iHeat is also the only brand here that appeared in UK search, in 5 of 10 searches. The other four, including British Gas, appeared in none. The cover brands lead on reviews: CORGI HomePlan holds 4.8 from 69,588 Trustpilot reviews and British Gas has 358,751.

Boiler Central scores lowest at 3.7. Its social icons lead nowhere, no ads were found for it, and it advertises finance with no FCA reference on the homepage. The company that traded as Boiler Central Ltd is in administration, and replies on Trustpilot say the brand now has new owners.

Company verdicts

iHeat, 7.7

iHeat scores 7.7, the highest of the five. Its website scores 10: boiler prices on the page (Worcester Greenstar 4000 at £2,445), a fixed quote in 60 seconds, next-day installation for orders before 3pm, and Gas Safe number 636096 printed. Search scores 9, with iheat.co.uk appearing in 5 of 10 UK searches, the only brand here to appear at all. Paid scores 10, with about 200 Google ads and 25 Meta ads. Reviews score 9 from 4.7 on 11,094 Trustpilot reviews. Brand scores 6 because it names managers and a Gas Safe guide author. The firm claims 600+ engineers across the UK. Its clearest gap is replies: only 2 of its latest 20 reviews have one.

CORGI HomePlan, 6.1

CORGI HomePlan scores 6.1. Reviews score 10, the top mark, from 4.8 on 69,588 Trustpilot reviews with replies to 10 of the latest 20. Its website scores 8: four boiler cover plans from £17 a month and an FCA number, although the boiler service price shows as a blank ‘£ a month’. Paid scores 8, mostly on Meta, with 36 Meta ads against 2 Google ads. The legal footer names HTG Home Services Limited, while Companies House shows that company number renamed OVO Home Services Ltd on 1 September 2025. Hometree’s newsroom reports an agreement to buy OVO’s Home Services division, which includes CORGI HomePlan. The clearest gap is search: corgihomeplan.co.uk appeared in none of 10 UK searches.

WarmZilla, 5.9

WarmZilla scores 5.9. Email scores 7, the highest on the board, because customers create a Home Hub account and a referral discount applies at checkout. Its website scores 8: a pick-and-book installation date flow, guides and calculators, and an FCA number, but no prices on the homepage and no Gas Safe number printed. Paid scores 8, with 17 Google ads and 15 Meta ads, and it links five social platforms including TikTok. The site features a mascot, Derek the Dinosaur, and says the firm was started by two brothers who are gas engineers, without naming them. Reviews score 5 from 4.3 on 2,122 Trustpilot reviews with no replies on the latest 20, its clearest gap.

British Gas, 5.0

British Gas scores 5.0. It is the only brand on the board with three or more independent news mentions in the 90 days to 12 October 2026, and brand scores 6. Paid scores 8, with about 500 Google ads and 7 Meta ads. Its website scores 7: online booking for boiler repair, a free online new-boiler quote and offers such as up to £300 off a new boiler, but no repair price or Gas Safe number on the homepage. Reviews score 6: 358,751 Trustpilot reviews at 4.4, with no replies on the latest 20. British Gas closed its Local Heroes platform to new jobs on 20 October 2023 to focus on its own services. Search and social are its gaps: 0 of 10 searches, and only an @BritishGas handle found.

Boiler Central, 3.7

Boiler Central scores 3.7, the lowest of the five. Its website scores 9: a quote ‘in 20 seconds’, fixed prices, installation date booking and Gas Safe number 656542 printed, although finance is offered with no FCA reference on the homepage. Reviews score 6 from 3.7 on 6,347 Trustpilot reviews. Replies appear on 17 of the latest 20, all using the same ‘Under New Ownership’ text. Those replies, dated 10 September 2026, say a private Yorkshire investment group now owns the brand. Companies House shows Boiler Central Ltd in administration. Social scores 0 because the icons link nowhere, and paid scores 2 with no ads found. The clearest gap is that the site names no trading company.

What the channels show

Prices and numbers on the page

iHeat scores 10 on website by printing boiler prices, a fixed quote and its Gas Safe number. Boiler Central (9) also prints a Gas Safe number and offers an instant quote. British Gas (7) offers online booking and quotes but shows no repair price or Gas Safe number on its homepage. The more a customer can check before calling, the higher the score.

One brand holds search

iHeat appeared in 5 of 10 UK searches. CORGI HomePlan, WarmZilla, British Gas and Boiler Central appeared in none, despite three of them running advice libraries. Search terms such as ‘boiler repair Manchester’ and ‘boiler service Leeds’ are not held by four of the five names compared here. For a local gas engineer, these are winnable searches, and a page per town and service is the place to start.

Cover brands lead on reviews

CORGI HomePlan scores 10 on reviews from 69,588 Trustpilot reviews at 4.8, with replies on 10 of the latest 20. British Gas has 358,751 reviews at 4.4 but replies to none of the latest 20. WarmZilla, at 4.3 from 2,122, also shows no replies. Boiler Central replies often, but with the same text each time. Replies written for each customer read differently from a pasted template.

Meta ads sell boiler cover

CORGI HomePlan ran 36 Meta ads against 2 Google ads, and iHeat ran 25 Meta ads alongside about 200 Google ads. WarmZilla ran 15 Meta and 17 Google. British Gas leaned on Google with about 500 ads. No ads were found for Boiler Central. Cover is a monthly product sold to people who are not yet in trouble, which may explain why it is advertised in social feeds rather than search.

Key lessons for any gas engineering or boiler business

Print your Gas Safe number

iHeat prints 636096 and Boiler Central 656542 on their homepages. WarmZilla and British Gas do not show one on the homepages read. Your number next to the Gas Safe logo lets a customer check you on the register in seconds.

Show a price for a service

iHeat lists boiler prices such as £2,445 for a Worcester Greenstar 4000 and scores 10 on website. CORGI HomePlan’s service price shows as a blank. A fixed price for an annual service and a typical repair answers the first question most customers ask.

Reply in your own words

Boiler Central replies to 17 of its latest 20 reviews, but every reply uses the same text. CORGI HomePlan replies to half, and scores 10 on reviews. A short, specific reply to each review reads as a person, not a template.

Keep your legal details current

CORGI HomePlan’s footer still names HTG Home Services Limited after its company was renamed in September 2025, and Boiler Central’s site names no trading company at all. Show your current company name and number in the footer, and check it against Companies House once a year.

Show your FCA number beside finance

WarmZilla and iHeat show FCA references next to their finance offers. Boiler Central offers finance with no FCA reference on its homepage. If you offer finance through a broker, show the reference clearly next to the offer, so a customer can check it on the FCA register.

Steal this playbook

Five moves from this leaderboard, ranked by return on effort.

  1. Add your Gas Safe number to every page. iHeat, top of the board, prints its number on the homepage; two of the larger brands do not.
  2. Reply to every review, in your own words. CORGI HomePlan replies to half its latest reviews and scores 10, while identical replies earn Boiler Central less trust.
  3. Publish a fixed price for a boiler service. iHeat scores 10 on website with prices on the page; CORGI HomePlan’s service price shows blank.
  4. Write a page for each town you cover. Four of the five brands appeared in none of 10 UK searches, including town searches.
  5. Check your footer shows your current company name and number. CORGI HomePlan and Boiler Central both show legal details that do not match Companies House.

How we scored

Who is on the board. Five UK brands a householder is likely to meet when a boiler needs repair, servicing, cover or replacement, spanning models: British Gas (national energy company home services arm), CORGI HomePlan (boiler cover brand, registered company renamed OVO Home Services Ltd and subject to Hometree’s agreed purchase), WarmZilla (online-first boiler installer with account and referral), iHeat (online-first fixed-price boiler installer, 600+ engineers claimed) and Boiler Central (online next-day boiler brand now under new ownership). BOXT and Heatable are left out because they already appear on another of our boards. Chosen for relevance and size, not marketing strength. Gas Safe numbers are as printed on each site and were not checked against the register. Brands were chosen for relevance and size, not for marketing strength.

  • Social: which platforms the brand links to from its own site, and whether we could see recent posting and video.
  • Website: 2 for a brochure page, 4 with a contact route on mobile, 6 with a page per service and a one-step enquiry, 8 with prices or ranges and registration numbers shown, 10 with online booking or an instant priced quote.
  • Email: visible capture only, as we did not subscribe test inboxes for this edition. 2 for a bare newsletter form, up to 10 for a loyalty or app ecosystem with personal offers.
  • SEO: ten UK searches for this trade, run through a standard web search API on 12 October 2026 (not personalised, no location set beyond the town in the query); we counted how many returned the brand’s own site in the top ten results. 0 of 10 scores 2, 1 to 2 scores 4, 3 to 4 scores 6, 5 to 6 scores 8, 7 or more scores 10, plus 1 for a substantial advice library. The searches: boiler repair near me; new boiler cost UK; boiler cover comparison; boiler service cost; combi boiler installation; boiler repair London; boiler repair Manchester; boiler installation Birmingham; boiler service Leeds; emergency boiler repair Glasgow.
  • Paid: the Google Ads Transparency Centre (UK, last 30 days, by domain) and the Meta Ad Library (UK, active ads whose text names the brand, counted by the advertiser page). 2 for nothing found in either, 4 for active in one with fewer than 10 ads, 6 for active in both or 10+ in one, 8 for active in both with 10+ in at least one, 10 for 50+ Google ads and 10+ Meta ads. Paid describes visible activity, not quality. A low paid score is not a fault.
  • Reviews: a fixed formula. Rating (4.7+ scores 4, 4.5 to 4.69 scores 3, 4.0 to 4.49 scores 2, 3.5 to 3.99 scores 1) plus volume (10,000+ scores 4, 1,000+ scores 3, 100+ scores 2, 20+ scores 1) plus replies to the latest 20 reviews (half or more scores 2, some scores 1).
  • Brand: five checks worth 2 each: the same name and logo everywhere, one clear positioning line, a distinctive asset used for years, three or more independent press mentions in 90 days, and named people or expertise on the site.

These anchors are fixed for this edition, so the five scores can be read against each other. Boards published before October 2026 used scores relative to the other brands on the board, so compare across boards with care.

Common questions

Which boiler brand scores highest on the Whito leaderboard?

iHeat scores highest at 7.7 out of 10. It prints boiler prices and its Gas Safe number on the homepage, offers a fixed quote in 60 seconds, appeared in 5 of 10 UK searches and ran about 200 Google ads and 25 Meta ads. Its weakest point is review replies, at 2 of its latest 20.

Which boiler brand scores lowest, and why?

Boiler Central scores 3.7. Its website scores well, but its social icons link nowhere, no ads were found, and it appeared in none of 10 UK searches. Its Trustpilot rating is 3.7 from 6,347 reviews. Boiler Central Ltd is in administration, and replies on Trustpilot say the brand has new owners.

How do boiler brands compare on reviews?

British Gas has the most Trustpilot reviews, 358,751 at 4.4, but replies to none of the latest 20. CORGI HomePlan scores the top mark of 10, with 4.8 from 69,588 and replies on 10 of the latest 20. WarmZilla, at 4.3, shows no replies, and Boiler Central replies with the same text each time.

What can a local gas engineer copy from these brands?

Print your Gas Safe number on every page, as iHeat does. Publish a fixed price for a boiler service. Reply to each review in your own words. Keep your company name and number current in your footer. If you offer finance, show the FCA reference beside it, as WarmZilla and iHeat do.
