A clinic website has one job that a normal business website does not: it has to sell a clinical service without advertising a medicine. That changes what you are buying, and it is worth knowing before you take a quote.

The figures below are Whito’s published UK benchmarks. The compliance section is specific to this sector.

What a UK business website costs

Whito’s pricing research puts most UK businesses at between £3,000 and £6,000 for a professionally built website, with a five page freelancer brochure site at £1,500 to £3,000, and hidden costs adding 30 to 50 per cent on top. Those figures are from May 2026.

The hidden extras line is the one that catches clinics. Content, photography, consent-compliant image handling and the price page all tend to sit outside the build quote and inside your evenings.

The pages a clinic needs that a normal business does not

Four of them, and each adds real work.

  • A prescriber page. Who prescribes, their professional register, their registration number, and what the assessment involves. Text, not an image.
  • Concern pages rather than product pages. Lines around the eyes, volume loss, a heavy jaw, excessive sweating. Written without naming a prescription only medicine.
  • A prices page that separates what you may lawfully publish from what is discussed at consultation, and says why.
  • An aftercare and complications page. It is the page anxious patients read most carefully and the one most clinics skip.

None of that is exotic web development. It is writing, and it is the part of the job a web developer will not do for you unless you pay for it separately.

The photography problem

Before and after photographs of botulinum toxin results are read by CAP as efficacy claims for a prescription only medicine, which makes them a rule 12.12 breach. Filler photographs are permitted, but you must hold documentary evidence that they are genuine, with signed proof from the subjects, and evidence substantiating the level of efficacy shown. Digital manipulation is out.

Practically, that means the standard clinic gallery is either unlawful, or it is a consent and record keeping exercise you have to run properly. Budget for the consent process, not just the camera.

The software line deserves a caution. Of five aesthetics platforms we tried to open on 8 September 2026, only one published a readable price in pounds. That is covered in full in our clinic software guide.

What to spend on, in order

  1. The writing. Concern pages, the prescriber page, aftercare. This is the whole difference between a site that converts and a brochure.
  2. A fast, plain, mobile-first build. Nothing about a clinic site needs to be clever.
  3. Consent-compliant photography, if you are going to publish results at all.
  4. Booking, once enquiries exceed what a person can handle by hand.
  5. Anything else.

A clinic that spends £6,000 on a beautiful site with no named prescriber and no prices has bought a brochure. A clinic that spends £2,000 and writes the four pages above properly has bought a sales process.

Common questions

Is a template site good enough for a clinic?

Usually yes. Nothing about the clinical proposition needs bespoke development. What it needs is correct, well-written, lawful content and a page that loads quickly on a phone. Spend the difference on the writing.

Should I let an agency run the website and the ads together?

Only if they can tell you, unprompted, why they will not bid on the toxin brand name. If they cannot, they do not know the rules that govern your sector, and you will be the one answering for the campaign.

Do I need a separate page per treatment?

A page per concern, which is not the same thing. The concern is what the patient searches for, and it lets you write a complete, lawful page without naming a prescription only medicine.
