Finding
At entry level on 5 October 2026, a thousand AI answers cost between £12.20 (Otterly.AI Lite) and £62.08 (AthenaHQ Starter): a fivefold spread for the same unit of work.

Most “best AI visibility tools” lists are written by the companies selling one of them. The list ranks the author’s own product first, and the price column says “contact us”.
So we went to the price pages. On 5 October 2026 we opened the pricing page of eight AI visibility trackers from a UK browser: Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Semrush, Rankscale, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Profound. We wrote down what each entry plan costs, in what currency, how many AI answers it collects a month and which engines it watches. Screenshots of every page are at the bottom of this article.
The short answer: for most UK marketing teams, Peec AI’s Starter plan (€85 a month, about £72.28) is the best first tracker. If the budget is under £30 a month, Otterly.AI Lite ($29, about £21.97) is the cheapest way in. If you already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush, start there before adding another login. And if you have not yet checked that AI engines can read your website at all, do not buy any of them yet.
The mistake most businesses make
They buy a tracker to find out why AI does not recommend them.
A tracker does not answer that. It asks ChatGPT, Google’s AI answers and the rest a fixed list of questions every day, and records who gets named. That is useful once you are in the race. It tells you nothing about whether an engine can read your site, confirm your business is real, or find anyone else vouching for you.
Structure before scale. Check the foundations for free first. Pay to measure once there is something worth measuring.
The ranking
Eight tools, ranked for a UK business buying its first or second AI visibility tracker. Prices are the monthly-billing figures shown on each vendor’s page on 5 October 2026. Euro and dollar prices are converted at the European Central Bank reference rates for 2 October 2026, the latest published when we checked (€1 = £0.85033; $1 = £0.7575).
| Rank | Tool | Best for | Entry plan, as shown | In pounds | AI answers a month on that plan | Thousand-answer price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Peec AI | Most UK marketing teams | Starter, €85/mo | £72.28 | 4,500 | £16.06 |
| 2 | Otterly.AI | The smallest budget | Lite, $29/mo | £21.97 | 1,800 (our sum) | £12.20 |
| 3 | Ahrefs Brand Radar | Teams already on Ahrefs | Custom prompts Basic, £40/mo | £40.00 | 2,500 checks | £16.00 |
| 4 | Semrush | Teams already on Semrush | Starter (SEO + AI Search), £161.25/mo | £161.25 | Not stated (50 prompts daily) | Cannot be worked out |
| 5 | Rankscale | Flexible tracking schedules | Pro, €99/mo | £84.18 | Up to 4,800 | £17.54 |
| 6 | Scrunch | Brand teams wanting a managed feel | Core, $250/mo | £189.38 | 5,000 | £37.88 |
| 7 | AthenaHQ | The widest engine list at a public price | Starter, $295/mo | £223.47 | 3,600 | £62.08 |
| 8 | Profound | Large brands with an enterprise budget | Free 7-day trial, then Enterprise “Custom” | No public price | Trial: 50 prompts daily for 7 days | Cannot be worked out |
The thousand-answer price is our name for the one figure that lets these plans be compared: the monthly price divided by the number of AI answers the plan collects, times 1,000. An “answer” is one question asked to one engine once. Where the vendor states the monthly answer count we used theirs. For Otterly we multiplied it out: 15 prompts, four engines, daily, over a 30-day month.
At entry level on 5 October 2026, a thousand AI answers cost between £12.20 (Otterly.AI Lite) and £62.08 (AthenaHQ Starter): a fivefold spread for the same unit of work. The dearer plans are not simply worse value. AthenaHQ watches 11 models and adds content tools; Otterly Lite watches four engines and holds 15 prompts. But the spread is why “which tool” matters less than “how many answers do I need”.
How we ranked them
Five tests, in this order of weight, for a UK business rather than a US enterprise:
- Does the entry plan watch Google’s AI answers? AI Overviews and AI Mode sit on top of the search engine most UK customers already use (our UK search engine statistics have the share). A plan that charges extra for Google is a plan you will upgrade.
- Is the price published? A “talk to sales” price is a price you cannot plan around.
- The thousand-answer price. The like-for-like cost of the work.
- Seats. A tool only one person can log into stays one person’s tool.
- Currency. Billing in euros or dollars adds a foreign exchange fee on most UK business cards, and the price moves with the rate.
We did not take paid trials of all eight, so this ranks what each plan gives you for the money as published, not the quality of each tool’s data. Nobody paid to be included, and no tool on this page earns Whito a commission.
1. Peec AI: the best first tracker for most UK teams
Starter is €85 a month (about £72.28) for 50 prompts, three models of your choice, daily tracking and unlimited users. The models on offer at that level are ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, so a UK team can point all three at the engines that matter here, including both Google products. Peec states the plan collects 4,500 AI answers a month, which works out at £16.06 per thousand.
Pro is €205 (about £174.32) for 150 prompts and 13,500 answers; Advanced is €425 (about £361.39) for 350 prompts, five projects and multi-country tracking. Peec says annual billing takes 15% off.
The catch: billing is in euros, so the pound price moves and your card may add a fee. A fourth model costs extra (€25 a month on Starter, on annual billing).
2. Otterly.AI: the cheapest way in
Lite is $29 a month (about £21.97) for 15 prompts tracked daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited team members. That is the lowest paid entry price and the lowest thousand-answer price on this page, at £12.20. Otterly also offers a free trial.
Standard is $189 (about £143.17) for 100 prompts and adds API access. Premium is $489 (about £370.43) for 400 prompts.
The catch: Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are add-ons. On Lite, AI Mode and Gemini are $9 a month each and Claude is $29. Lite plus AI Mode and Gemini comes to $47, about £35.60. Fifteen prompts is also very few: enough for a sole trader’s core questions, not for a business with several services or towns.
3. Ahrefs Brand Radar: the best value if you already pay for Ahrefs
Ahrefs prices its prompt tracking in pounds and by the check: one prompt, on one platform, in one location, once. The Basic custom prompt package is £40 a month for 2,500 checks, which Ahrefs gives as roughly 80 prompts daily on one platform. That is £16.00 per thousand. Growth is £80 for 7,000 checks; Scale is £200 for 25,000. Overage is billed at the end of the month, from £0.0160 a check on Basic.
Paid Ahrefs plans include a few tracked prompts already: 5 on Lite (£99 a month), 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced. Brand Radar’s AI Visibility Index, which shows how any brand appears across Ahrefs’ own database of prompts, starts at £159 a month.
The catch: £40 buys one platform’s worth of daily tracking in the example Ahrefs gives. Watching three engines daily needs roughly three times the checks. Ahrefs also says it does not issue refunds in general.
4. Semrush: the best value if Semrush is already your SEO tool
Semrush sells AI visibility inside its SEO plans. The Starter plan, labelled “SEO + AI Search”, is £161.25 a month billed monthly and includes 50 prompts tracked daily and one domain for AI brand performance, alongside the keyword and site audit tools. The plan card shows Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini logos plus “& more”. Pro+ is £242.28 for 100 prompts; Advanced is £444.85 for 200.
The catch: the headline figure Semrush shows first is the annual-billing rate (£133.84 a month on Starter), so check which one you are being charged. The price page does not say how many AI answers the plan collects, so no thousand-answer price can be worked out. If you do not need the SEO suite, you are paying for it anyway.
5. Rankscale: the most flexible schedule
Rankscale sells credits rather than prompts. Pro is €99 a month (about £84.18) for 1,200 credits, which Rankscale says tracks up to 4,800 AI answers. Most engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini) cost 0.25 credits per run; DeepSeek costs 1 and Claude costs 2. You choose how often each question runs, from hourly to monthly, and unused credits roll over to the next month, up to a cap that varies by plan. There is a seven-day free trial of Pro.
The catch: credits make the bill harder to predict. Add Claude to every question and the “up to 4,800” falls fast. Billing is in euros.
6. Scrunch: a step up in price, not in Google coverage
Core is $250 a month (about £189.38) for 125 unique prompts, 5,000 responses a month, five user licences and five site audits. It watches four engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude and others are on Enterprise only. There is a seven-day free trial.
The catch: 125 prompts against 5,000 responses means not every prompt can run daily on every engine. At £37.88 per thousand answers it costs more than twice Peec’s Starter rate for the same unit.
7. AthenaHQ: the most engines, at the highest unit price
Starter is $295 a month (about £223.47) for 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI response. It covers 11 models, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, plus content optimisation tools. There is also a free Essential tier with a small credit allowance across five engines, enough to look around.
The catch: £62.08 per thousand answers is the highest on this page. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons on top of Starter, priced on request.
8. Profound: for enterprise budgets only
On 5 October 2026 Profound’s pricing page showed two options: a free trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and Enterprise at “Custom”, reached through a demo. Enterprise tracks up to nine answer engines and adds SSO and dedicated support.
The catch: there is no published paid price, so it cannot be compared on cost, and the route in is a sales call. For a UK business spending under a few hundred pounds a month on marketing tools, it is not the place to start.
What none of the eight checks
Every tracker here tells you whether an engine named you and which competitors it named instead. None of the eight pricing pages we read mentions checking whether those named competitors are real, registered businesses, at Companies House or with a UK regulator.
That matters more in the UK than the trackers’ marketing suggests. Our own studies keep finding that many firms the engines name cannot be matched to an active company on the public register. In September 2026, of 129 locksmiths and plumbers named by ChatGPT and Gemini across 12 UK cities, fewer than half (57) matched an active, locally registered company at Companies House. See AI recommendations vs UK public registers and how accurate AI business recommendations are. The rival you appear to be losing to may not be what the answer suggests.
Where Whito’s own check sits, and why it is not ranked
Whito makes two things that sit near this list. We have kept both out of the ranking, because ranking our own product would make the rest of this page worth less.
The Whito Visibility Check is free and is not a tracker. It runs seventeen checks on your homepage, such as whether AI crawlers are allowed, whether your business schema is there, and whether a company number and UK address are visible, then scores the result out of 100. It answers the question the trackers skip: can an engine read you and confirm you are real? It does not tell you whether engines currently recommend you. Run it before you pay for anything above.
The Visibility Monitor is paid and is done for you. For £280 a month we ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode the same fixed questions about one named business each month, and every rival they name is checked at Companies House. You get a PDF and the raw CSV, and you can cancel any time. It suits an owner or agency that wants the answer, not another dashboard. Details are on the Whito Data page.
If you want to track hundreds of prompts yourself every day, a tool above will do it for less per answer. That is the honest comparison.
Which one, by stage
Start. Buy nothing yet. Run the free Visibility Check, work through the ten free AI visibility tools, and ask ChatGPT and Google the three questions a customer would ask about you. Write the answers down. That is your baseline, and it costs nothing.
Build. One tracker, smallest plan. Peec Starter if Google’s AI answers matter to you (they usually do). Otterly Lite if the budget is tight and 15 questions cover your business. If you already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush, use the prompts you have before adding a login.
Scale. Several brands, towns or countries: Peec Pro or Advanced, Rankscale Pro+ for flexible schedules, or Scrunch and AthenaHQ if you want the content tools. Profound when there is an enterprise budget and a procurement process.
The traps in the price
- Currency. Five of the eight show euros or dollars. Your bank or card will usually add a non-sterling transaction fee, and the pound price moves every month.
- Google as an add-on. On Otterly, Google AI Mode and Gemini cost extra. On Scrunch Core they are not available at all.
- Annual shown as monthly. Semrush leads with the annual-billing rate. Peec, Otterly and Rankscale all advertise around 15% off for annual billing. Compare like with like.
- Credits, not prompts. Rankscale, AthenaHQ and Ahrefs charge by the run. Adding an engine multiplies the bill, and some engines cost more per run: Claude is 2 credits a run on Rankscale, and Ahrefs says Claude uses 8 checks per update.
- VAT. We recorded prices as displayed. UK VAT may be added at checkout, depending on the vendor and whether you give a VAT number.
The evidence
Each pricing page as it appeared in a UK browser on 5 October 2026, monthly billing selected where a toggle exists.

Method and limits
What we did. On 5 October 2026 we opened each vendor’s own pricing page in a UK Chrome browser, selected monthly billing where there was a toggle, recorded the entry plan’s price, prompt or credit allowance, stated answer count and engines, and took the screenshots above. Conversions use the European Central Bank euro reference rates for 2 October 2026 (GBP 0.85033, USD 1.1225 per euro), giving $1 = £0.75753.
The thousand-answer price. Monthly price in pounds, divided by AI answers per month, times 1,000. Answer counts are the vendor’s own where stated: Peec 4,500, Scrunch 5,000, AthenaHQ 3,600 credits at one response each, Rankscale “up to 4,800”, Ahrefs 2,500 checks. Otterly’s 1,800 is ours (15 prompts x 4 engines x 30 days). Semrush and Profound do not publish a figure we could use.
Limits. We did not run paid trials, so this compares published plans, not data quality or accuracy. Prices change often in this market; re-check the vendor page before you buy. We did not check each vendor’s VAT treatment or contracting entity. Engines and features listed are those the price page shows for the entry plan. Free one-off checkers, such as HubSpot’s AI Search Grader, are not trackers and are left out. Vendor pages can differ by country and over time: an automated fetch of Scrunch’s page on the same day returned a different plan layout from the one our UK browser showed, so we record what the UK browser showed, with the screenshot.
Corrections. If a price here is wrong, email the page link and a screenshot of the vendor page to us via the contact page and we will correct it and date the change.
Questions people ask
What is an AI visibility tool?
Software that asks AI engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot a fixed list of questions on a schedule, then records whether your business is named, which competitors are named instead, and which websites the engine cites. Some vendors call it GEO or AEO tracking.
What is the cheapest AI visibility tool in the UK?
On 5 October 2026 the cheapest paid entry plan we found was Otterly.AI Lite at $29 a month, about £21.97, which also had the lowest cost per thousand AI answers (£12.20). The cheapest priced in pounds was Ahrefs’ custom prompt package at £40 a month.
How much does Profound cost?
Profound’s pricing page on 5 October 2026 showed no paid price. It offered a free 7-day trial (50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and an Enterprise plan priced as “Custom” after a demo.
How much is Peec AI in pounds?
Peec AI charges in euros. Starter at €85 a month was about £72.28 at the European Central Bank rate of 2 October 2026; Pro at €205 was about £174.32; Advanced at €425 was about £361.39. Your card provider’s rate and fees will change the final figure.
Does my business need an AI visibility tool?
Usually not at first. Check that AI engines can read your website and confirm you are real, which the free Whito Visibility Check does, and ask the engines your customers’ questions yourself. Buy a tracker once you are appearing in some answers and need to measure change.
The sharp takeaway
A tracker measures the race. It does not get you into it. Fix what engines can read for free, then pay the lowest thousand-answer price that covers Google’s AI answers. For most UK teams on 5 October 2026, that was Peec AI Starter.
