Infrastructure operators in the UK

5 firms listed, 23 September 2026. Each checked at Companies House, each with its named work or licence and the source.

What counts as operators and concessionaires

An operator or concessionaire owns or runs one asset, or a small set, once it is built: a tunnel, a railway, a port. It is paid to run the asset, often under a licence or a long contract.

A firm goes in the group that matches the work it has actually done, from a public source. See who builds what for the four groups.

How to check a firm in this group

Operators often trade under a name that is not the company name. Tideway is Bazalgette Tunnel Limited. We show the trading name and the legal name side by side on every profile, and the legal name is the one on contracts and accounts.

Check the licence or regulator where there is one. HS1 Ltd, for example, has its funding set by the Office of Rail and Road.

Method. Each firm was checked at Companies House on 23 September 2026: legal name, number, status, incorporation date and registered office. The named work links to an official page, a regulator’s record or the firm’s own page.

Limits. A Whito listing is not a recommendation, rating or prequalification. It is not a list of every firm in this group, only the ones we have checked so far.
